I really hate to bump a old thread but I can not find this lip, or one similar any longer that doesn't cost upwards of $300. Looking for a simple lip without the wings on the side. Even Ebay doesn't seem to carry them any longer.

Happened a couple of years back with a CF Diffuser. Someone on these forums finds it, tells everyone else, and suddenly the item is selling like hotcakes. The eBay seller sees the massive spike in demand and jacks up their prices... The CF Diffuser started off at $99 and ended up at over $800... |

I'm also looking for a front lip for a reasonable price...that one is the best I've seen for 159, too bad they are out of stock
These non-CF ones probably cost $20 to make, no reason we should have to pay 300+ |

I just got an email from them and they said it could be months so I cancelled the order.
I am kicking myself for not ordering one months ago when they were literally half the price they are now. If anyone has one they are selling, hit me up! |

I purchased an Ebay lip, and it did not fit. The raised area near the center of the bumper did not match up. Looked horrible IMO. Pay for the quality stuff/make your own.

Eh...I agree you get what you pay for, but the car parts market is so messed up...no reason why we shouldn't be able to get a plastic lip that fits our bumpers for $200.

I once bought a OEM lip for my S2000 and trashed it. Never again. I will spend money where it needs to be spent but I am not wasting money on something that can be damaged so easily. If you have any automotive abilities at all you can make a cheap lip fit like OEM. My second lip for my S came from ebay and took some massaging, but once I was done with it, it fit just as well as the Honda piece for less than a fraction of the cost. Plus if you autocross you car as I do sooner or later a curb or cone is going to come into contact with your bumper.
MY point is to all the nay sayers is that you can take the time and make them work. you just have to put forth the effort to do so. |

The front lip is back up on eBay. Thinking about pulling the trigger and cutting off the little wings...
2 sellers have it: http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-11-BMW-E8...-/151445910366 http://www.ebay.com/itm/07-11-BMW-E8...-/361084907871 |

For those of you who have this.
How is it secured? Who has tested it at high speed? Don't want it coming off at 200KMH. Last edited by Nugget; 11-11-2014 at 02:51 AM.. |

Secured with provided screws/bolts... but I added a few of my own. There is NO way mine is coming off... it would probably rip off the front bumper 1st, lol. and yes, had it past 220kph and was perfectly fine. It's actually a rather robust product (surprisingly)... with reinforced ridges all underneath.

Pulled the trigger and just ordered one. The fit was pretty meh originally, it took about 4 hours for heatgun/twisting/pulling to get a good fit. I'm happy with it though, it lines up well now.
I secured it in 2 OEM spots in the corners using longer screws. And drilled 6 additional holes to secure using screws with built in washers and quick nuts against fender washers so I could torque it down without damaging the bumper. Here's a picture of the screws I used. It's not coming off. |

I already had the bumper off (had it resprayed to fix the rock chips) but it didn't line up well enough to install like that. Need to tug on things to get it aligned. So put the bumper on the car, but removed the undertray so I could get my hand in to hold the nuts against the inside of the bumper.
