I think she may be totaled :(

Driver of an altima decided to come to a complete sudden stop on a 65mph hwy in the passing lane in the rain... did my best to avoid him , but i clipped him and spun. I probably hit him at about 50mph

Only mark on my body is a bruise from the airbag on my arm.. thanks BMW

I'm sure there was a reason for him stopping.... sounds like the OP was following too closely or not paying attention :/

Yea, the person in front of the person (the OP hit) slammed on his brakes, because the person the OP hit was following too close to the person in front of them most likely.

....won't really know for sure if it's totaled until it's on a lift and checked for frame damage, etc

Glad you are ok. I doubt that is a total write off. $8K in damages is my guess.

I don't know Dackel. I had an accident in my 2008 that didn't look half as bad, but similar, and it was $26k in damages, just as a point of reference. Headlight assembly alone was I think $1400 a pop. Airbags are another couple grand, adds up quickly.

I feel your pain man, happens so fast and sucks so bad, especially when no fault of your own and some moron is putting people's lives and cars at risk out on the roads with no ability to comprehend how dangerous their behavior is or consequences can be to others.

If the person the OP hit did not hit the first car, then he was not following too close as you suggest. The OP, however, did fail to stop in time.

Rationalizing failure and bad decisions by blaming others is not the way to go.

I wish you guys would stop blaming the person who did nothing wrong other than hit his brakes.... This guy hit him! Not the other way around. If the guy needed to slam on his brakes to avoid hitting the car infront of him... how is he a moron???? You would have done the same goddamn thing!

I'm mostly blaming my person in this scenario who caused my accident, just for clarity, as my guy wasn't paying attention and broke the law.

Sucks OP, but we are all glad you're ok.

I recently had an accident as well. I bought a 2011 Audi S4 in Sept 2012. Someone ran a red light and t-boned me in January. Thankfully no one was injured (other than my concussion). Now I am more happy in my modded 135i. It's more fun to drive in my opinion.

definitely totalled...looks like new: front bumper, hood, fender, mirror. Door work, air bags, front headlight, suspension, wheel, brake? and the frame looks slightly damaged above the bent wheel....my guess is 20k after labour/paint etc

sorry to see..
