Maybe for a switchback (alternates between white DRL and amber turn signal) light system?

Just went over the whole front suspension with a torque wrench, prepping for VIR later this week. I really don't want to limp the car home on a 5 hour drive (at normal speeds). Also put a Mehle air filter in (ditching the K&N), seems like the top end is back in action, and I could swear it's running smoother...

So far, I have nothing but good things to say about the Porterfield R4-S brake pads that went in last night. Very good street pad; easy modulation, smooth initial bite, very quiet and very smooth. Fitment was a little wonky, the anti-squeal plates on the back were a hair too big for the caliper, but a little hammer-meet-thin-metal action got them fitting perfectly...

Had to purchase two rears, so I went with Dunlop Direzza DZ102's to match the fronts. Got em in 255/35. I'm tired of doing self tire plugs. The Potenzas are needed to replaced since they got nothing left.

Let us know if they are clean or dusty brake pads. I hate mine with a passion. They work OK, but dust spread is ridiculous!

I'm hoping for the former, but we'll see once I get the chance to clean the wheels (again)

rebuilt my shifter, the bushings and everything. all of them

i dropped my exhaust and driveshaft to get as much room to play. then chris_flies mentions he did it sucessfully with just bending the heatshield out of the way.

bout to shower and crawl into bed, beyond exhausted

also my selector rod seal is busted lol - im just gonna have my friend (whos a VW tech AKA access to a lift) replace it. I'm slowly getting sick of working on my back (ha!) which is good because most of the heavy mods are done.

I went with the E82 regular sport steering wheel (he has the thicker M sport wheel too). It cost $225 for the wheel with stripe, then there is a core deposit which you get back when you send your wheel back to him. So all in $225
That's not bad at all.

I've been wanting to get a new wheel, but I'm on the fence if I want to do Alcantara. That price is nice though, most of the leather wheels that I'd want are over $600 lol. DCT wheels make it even more scarce

Over the weekend I picked up a set of 313s, blacklines already equipped with led reverse and signals, carbon diffuser, and a strut bar from one of our fellow 1addicts. Great guy and great seller and he gave me a good deal. I got everything on but the wheels you know why? Because when I got tires put on a few months ago the jackasses impacted my wheels locks on I sheared off one key in a bolt and stripped the other. This has me pretty pissed off and I tried to get them off with a socket but one is too big and the other too small.

This post was a roller coaster of emotions. Hope you get that sorted out easily. Way too many places blasting on lugs and wheel locks without giving a shit

Glad to make your day that much better!

How'd you determine that your selector rod seal is busted?

And yes, working on the back is horrid and no fun at all...

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the wheel bolts and locks, but congrats on the upgrades. I have the blacklines and 313s as well and love them. Got the 313s in 2011 and the blacklines in 2014. I have a 2011 135i that came with pre-LCI taillights and I'm very happy with the newer LCI pattern and the darker look of the blacklines.

Ordered new coil packs. Still having timing issues and pretty long cranks to start the car after the spark plug change. Seems like these two changes rarely fix the issues here on the forums, hopefully this fixes them for me.

Check your starter cable, specifically at the positive battery terminal in the engine bay (near the DME). Mine had corroded and was causing issues with long starts. Eventually it completely shit the bed and sent me into a dark limp mode with zero power on the highway. Luckily made it to the emergency lane just fine.

Will do. But because I'm an idiot, I care more about my car making all these timing corrections and feeling slower when it does. Starting is cool, but going fast is much better.

Oil was on the driveshaft/output shaft, all over the selector rod. I looked it up and apparently it's pretty common. 100% paying my 'side work' mechanic to replace it. Much easier on a lift and I'm really in no mood to wrench lol.
