my initial car on order was scheduled to be built sometime in april and to be delivered by the end of april. My dealer called me this morning and said that the south african police ordered a few 330's for their fleet and they were before me. THe police added a few MORE cars so mine and some other orders have been changed for delivery sometime mid to end of may.
I cant wait that long so they searched the system and found me a 330 that wasnt as loaded but good enough since i dont plan on keeping it long.
the specs are
blak sapphire on beige (not a big fan of beige but it has the blak dask so its ok)
manual
burl walnut trim
M sports pack
18 inch 193 rims
and it has one or two more options...but no xenons

they called me with the specs at 6pm and the car is stil at the factory....i told them il take it so they are gona get the car from the dealer by friday or so and i should get the car by saturday or monday....cant wait....

OH SHIT!!! No more running from the police for me. I way prefered it when they drove Mercs. Why the SAP need fuel guzzling 350k cars (Yes, I know they get a discount) is beyond me.

thanx..ya i couldnt understand that also..initially they only got a few..today they ordered more of them..i gues they are happy with them...i thought the e46 ones they had were 318i so i gues they are upgrading

Sounds like crap to me

The only time our police get BMW's is when BMW donates them, and no way a SA police order could delay other cars by a month, they produce way to many to delay it that much

I bet your dealer forgot to put in the order

haha ya i thought that also...but they told me about the police thing when i put in my order a couple weeks ago...now they say that almost all of the april allocations are going to them on the 330i...more than one dealer told me that ...but i dont mind that much bcuz althought i dont get the options i get my car earlier..e90fleet.do u know when is a good time to order a e90 m3 to get one early?

Spoke to 2 guys I know with April build 330i comming and neither have head of a delay, and the one confirmed his options and aid a R5K deposit with his dealer on monday

ya the dealer told me the cars only from the 3rd week are gona be built for the police since mine was scheduled for them..lol wel either way im happy i get an e90 sooner...thanx anyways

as long as you're happy with the options you have, but if you're not, then I'd wait longer for everything you want in your car.

I agree with Fleet. It does sound very suspicious. As I was reading your story, I was in disbelief. How could your car be pushed back once an order has gone through?

BMW produce the E90s in large quantities so a few extra cars would not matter.

Double check things before signing up for your compromise car UNLESS you can get a VERY BIG discount and you really don't mind the less equipped car.

Try it. You haven't got anything to lose and more to gain.

I wouldn't go for it without the things you really want...i regret it...i wish more then anything that i got the xenons.....make sure you get everything you want right now so you dont regret anything

I feel for you as I was also one of those scheduled for build in April and whilst I was not giving a reason, I was told that my order was shifted out to early May.

Found it unacceptable and decided to "upgrade" from a 325i on order to a 330i demo. Only thing I lost out on was Sat Nav. Lost my deposit too but hey, I am a happy chappie and pleased with my 330

Nope, They only standard if you take the "exclusive package" but even then you pay for it by buying the package. Otherwise you can take them on their own as an option.

And we have to pay even extra for the adaptive Xenons that are standard in the US

Either that or he decided to sell your vehicle to someone else and then a) put in a new order or b) modified another allocation.

I thought dealers worked on allocation? I know when I purchased my E91, delivery dates varied wildly. We bought ours in October and were told by the local dealer Feb was the earliest we could get one anywhere. Another dealer had slots available in late Dec. In the end we were given early Jan by the dealer we chose, but even then that car arrived earlier on 21st Dec.

I would give BMW head office a call and query them when your order was placed at the factory.

thanx for al the feedback..wel technically when i ordered my car all the dealers told me may anyway and i was going to just buy a used one because i am not patient..lol so one dealer told me that they could get it in april and i got a fairly good discount so i didnt mind. the car they are giving me now has a little bit of a bigger discount but nothing substantial...like R 1500 which is like 230 american dollars..lol....i dont mind not having the nav but the xenons is what i hate not having...but on the other hadn i dont think its worth waitin 6 weeks for xenons... so next time ..thanx
