Exactly what I was saying. Brochures in Australia refer them as:

Stereo with 6 speakers
Hi Fi with 10 Speakers
Hi Fi Professional with 10 Speakers

or we call them Standard, HiFi and HiFi Professional.

I know for a fact that at the dealer level, they have Stereo/HiFi/TopHiFi terminology as that is what comes up on the order/Invoice.

If this is so in Australia then why the OP and his dealer's confusion about what the HiFi Professional comes with or not if it is clear in the order/invoice?

I know for sure that on the BMW site where the car production details are I got the Professional Logic 7 system (off the brochure), but the BMW site lists my car as fitted with "Top HiFi".

Maybe the dealer has NFI?

Why are we arguing with someone who haven't seen the Australian Brochure anyway?

Ange, how did you go with finding the answer?

Do I really need to see your Australian brochure if the worldwide BMW document attached by me supersedes it? The same document available in your Australian dealer network thru bmwtis.com and WDS?

The fact of the matter is that by your own admission the terms Stereo/HiFi and Top HiFi are recognized at your dealer level, so why the confusion if this OEM sound system terminology is clearly printed in the order/invoice in your country?

Because you are missing the point of the OP. He wants and answer, and he's not getting an answer. The question specifically is relating to HiFi Professional without the iDrive, and he's still not getting an answer from the dealer. No one is confused about what product he's ordered. Just that no one is able to give him an answer.

This argument is way past the expiration date... my point is that option code 677 is a worldwide BMW code so 677 = Top HiFi = HiFi Professional (Australia promotional name) = surround features. Therefore there should not be any confusion about surround features, regardless of iDrive and regardless of how BMW Australia name it.

Even if I was confused initially with your localized nomenclature for Top HiFi, it is still option 677, the same option code here in the USA, in Europe and in Asia. Why this dealer was confused and cannot offer an answer to the OP if they used 677 in their ordering guide is what I wonder.

That's it...

Sparoz, i did get an answer.

I have finally received feedback from head office regarding option 677 (HiFi Professional in Australia) for E82. I received confirmation straight from the development department confirming that the 7-band equalizer is included in 677 even if you have a car without the Navigation system Professional. You only need the Radio BMW Professional which is standard in Australia.

Furthermore, the interior-space sound effects ‘concert’ and ‘theatre’ are also included in 677 with or without the Navigation system.

Dawogfather, i'm guessing you paid an extra grand or so and for that you got 10 speakers instead of 6. The sound system i'm referrring to is the top of the range in the 1 series, retailing for $2080, which has the same 10 speakers but an also a more powerful amp, including a 7-band graphic equaliser and simulated surround sound features.

I understand the confusion because, not only didn't my dealer know, but nor were they sure in Aust Head Office. It was referred to Head Office in Germany. The reason apparently is because they sell so few HiFi Professional systems in Australia, that out of sight out of mind, i guess.

Head Office was great about it though. For all the trouble, they were happy to put production back a month so it would be a MY2010 vehicle and also agreed to add a new option introduced for MY2010 which will introduces extended connectivity of the music player in the mobile phone - i.e. allow you to play your music files from your iPhone.

Without iDrive you'll have "surround" modes, but they won't be named 'concert' and 'theatre', rather 'music' and 'cinema' respectively. Again, that info will be either housed here, but definitely on babybmw.net.
