Any nicks or scratches on your 1 yet?
I have a small rock nick on my front bumper now. Noticeable only if you're up close looking real hard.
What nicks or scratches if any do you have on your 1? |

I did a detail on my car today and noticed two chips, one on the hood about 1/2" from the leading edge and one on the roof, above the windscreen.

I spent many hours giving the 1er another complete coat of Zaino yesterday with the orbital, and detailing the inside of the car as well. It's never looked better! But, but I did discover that there are already a few tiny little rock chips along the front bumper.
It would not surprise me if the front bumper will need to be repaired in several years, due to all the rock chips that will accumulate. Also, I always go to great efforts to prevent any door dings in the parking lots, and recently I parked so far over to one side that I actually caused a small scrape on the outside edge of the wheel, as it briefly scraped against a curb. Nothing too serious, but it's there, and I know about it! Scraped wheel, but no door dings, though... HA! That'll teach me. Oh well... the car isn't perfect any more!! But, then again, nicks and scratches aside... it is still one of the coolest and most perfect cars I've ever owned, regardless of price. What a ride!

I do have a one weird crack and not sure how this happened as there are no dents or scratches in this area. Trying to see if it’s some sort of defect in the plastic that caused it to crack and have it replaced under warrranty. Here is a few photos. What do you guys think is it a defect???

^^ that's a known fault. quite a lot of people have had their centre brake light crack in the middle. must be a manufacturing or design flaw. take it to the dealer.

I found the thread that discusses it:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...ke+light+crack My friend in Belgium has his new AW coupe and I noticed his brake light is starting to crack too. Hopefully something BMW have sorted for the MY09s...

That's why I had 3M film installed as soon as I took delivery of the car. Dump trucks are terrible around here and the state police could care less if they drizzle sand/pebbles while driving down the road.

My wife took the car to L.L. Bean in Freeport for an outdoor concert and someone hit it right behind the driver side rear tire. It peeled back the paint a little bit and left some white scratches on my jet black car. Looks like a door ding from the direction the paint peeled. Funny there was noone parked there when she went to leave and no note. I love people that take responsibility for their actions...

Order some BMW touch up paint, and apply a tiny bit as soon as you notice any little chip. Use a toothpick, all you want to do is to hide the discoloration. If done right away this will prevent any rust from forming. Bavauto sells thes products for $18 - $24 for most BMW paint codes.
Touch Up Paint Pen - Jet Black/Schwartz II - Color Code 668 $17.95 Paint Pen lets you color in scratches as easily as using a marker. Inside this easy-to-use, felt-tip pen is high-quality urethane paint that matches the BMW color precisely. Just shake the pen and press down to start the paint flowing. Once the tip is soaked, "color in" the blemish as if you were using a crayon. Part Number Description Price Qty. 51 91 1 052 274 Touch Up Paint - Alpine White III - Color Code 300 $19.95 Includes 1 - 12ml tube of paint, and 1 - 12ml tube of clear coat. Color codes can be found under the hood on the left strut housing, or on the underside of the hood. Please check your color code before ordering. Copyright © 2000-2008 Bavarian Autosport |

Found a tiny rock chip right above the driver's side kidney last night while applying some Z6. Getting some touch-up paint asap.

After surviving an attack by Gustav, the next day my wife opened her car door onto my otherwise flawless car, putting a very nasty dent on that crease that runs along the side, just above the door handle. It's hard to say which one of us felt worse about this. I took it to a body shop that is known to do excellent work and, instead of charging me $700 to fix it, he sent me to a Paintless Dent Removal shop. They removed the dent completely. 100% gone. $75. I at first thought the paint was chipped but it turned out to be green paint from the Honda. The white paint stayed intact. The dent removal guy had to drill a hole inside the door frame to get to the dent, which was about 10 to 12 inches behind the door, on the fender panel. This hole was later sealed up with a white sealer. I may go back later and have the hole filled better, but it really looks pretty good as is. Plus, who knows? I may need that hole again later!

I had two small rockchips in the hood and then about a week and a half ago someone hit the right front fender when I was in a parking lot. No info left of course. The dent was about 5 inches across and about an inch deep in the center. I just got my car back yesterday from the dealership. $997 for a new fender.

How lucky for me, I can add a second to my list. Went to a local High School football game last night. This morning I have a nice, great big swipe mark across my driver side rear bumper approximately 1' wide by 4" tall. Again, no note or anything. I'm really getting irritated now. I got the car 3rd week of July and it's been hit and run twice now. I can't say enough about how nice people are. I'll post some pics tommorrow, what the frick do I do now? I know it's dirty. |

I stopped by burger king after the gun show today and, sure enough, I came out and some bitch had her car door open right against my car. They were sitting in the car eating with both doors open, instead of putting the windows down. I'm glad it was the old car but I still let her know how I felt. I'm convinced some people are brain dead.

I have found one small rock chip on the passenger side of the hood. The other thing is when I was at the dragstrip in Texas, I go to leave and notice something about the passenger side front fender. There is a circular spot of paint missing. I'm clueless on what the hell it could have been since it's probably a 5 inch or so diameter circle and so low to the ground. Of course not note and no one saw anything. I'm still pissed about it. No focking respect for someone else's property. I got a quote from my dealer to fix it and they quoted me $590. I think I might try elsewhere. Blah.
