I'm much more drawn to the 1M for its power to weight ratio. I could care less about the looks. All BMWs are gorgeous to me. It's the quality of the drive I'm most concerned about.

love both cars. It is a shame the 1M doesn't come in a blue, but I am not complaining, the VO is hot. Estoril Blue is classic and so is the e46 M3, but damn its about as hard to find an e46 in that color as...

Barely? dude, my n55 135i in stock form makes e46 m3's sweat! I was just challenged by an e46 m3 owner yesterday and he inhaled some major n55 exhaust gases!

I love the 1M, but couldn't afford to buy one even after trading the 135i, but a nice E46 M3 was available with cash back I do like the 1M though, wish there were more colors though. Wish they stuck to the original colors available for the E30 M3. Nice stance though for such a small car, is it really true the 1M is now wider than an E46 M3?

id love to see a company restore e46 m3's to like new perfection and put new technology into it including but not limited to the e9x m3 v8 and dct. bore and stroke it out like the gts and have a NA beast in a classy e46 body with upgraded everything inside and out. if i had the money id buy another e46 and have a project car and put like 50k into it to put a 500hp natrual aspirated motor in an e46 with a 6sp or dct and just make it perfect and also have a perfect e46 m3 in stock form and an e39 m5 in stock form restored as well. that is pretty much all any M enthusiast would ever need. than just get a daily driver truck or something to beat up and not care about and keep your M cars perfect.....day dreaming...

The E46 M3 has aged very gracefully, especially compared to the other E46 variants (the ZHP cars still look good too). The proportions on it are just right in my opinion. Dare I say it will become a timeless design?

I would take the 1M over an old M3; except I wish the 1M came with the M3 hood.

If the 1m can put up with the Florida summer heat on a track going 100% and not overheat and have to come in to cool down compared to the NA m car counterparts than that will be it's success in my mind if the e46 m3 or e9x m3 can do dozens of laps and not be over 220 oil temp tops but the 1m boils up to like 250-270 oil temp after a couple laps in the summer heat of Florida at Sebring or pbia it doesn't matter if it's slightly faster down low or not if u can't keep up plus the heat destroys the engine and will breakdown much faster. I think at higher speed tracks where that low end torque the 1m has won't help it that much against NA m3's that have to be wound all the way up to get the best out of them
