There's a tech bulletin on early 1 Series condensers prematurely failing. Mine was replaced under warranty. AirCon is superb in the 1 as far as I'm concerned. Max cools down the cabin quickly and auto keeps it at whatever temp I set it.

While the A/C has always been a bit weak on the 1 the last time I had a car that fluctuated coolant temps wildly it was the start of a radiator side tank leak.

While it probably isnt that, it may be a good idea to give the coiling system a once over and check for leaks.
