+1,000. The 128i with the M-Sport package is a real drivers car. The 135i is awesome as well.

Simply referring to a car as a "chick car" is juvenile, vaguely misogynistic, and just generally backwards. It's a good thing you have that big, macho 5.0 on order - no one will ever confuse you with a guy who uses cars to compensate for his inadequacies.

As for the 128i, plenty of unbiased and informed reviewers have it pegged as a pleasant and engaging driver's car capable of a sub-6 second 0-60 time, powered by THE iconic BMW engine (that is to say a NA I6). It aint a drag racer, to be sure, but it also aint supposed to be.

The 135 is a guy car. The 128 can go both ways, but the big engine is usually purchased by guys.

Really? It's that simple, huh? I don't want to blow your mind or anything, but you think that perhaps you may be leaving out just a few factors that have nothing to do with gender and may influence a person's decision as to which vehicle to buy other than engine output? What about cost?

And no women buy the 135i?

I'd be willing to bet that AT LEAST 90% of the 135i owners are male. Women just generally don't care about the additional power, and don't see that it's worth paying the extra money for when the car with the smaller engine is identically equipped otherwise.

Yeah, I'm inclined to accept that as true, but I don't really get the need to correlate gender with vehicles in absolute terms. My main point of contention was the definition of the 128i as a "chick car," which is a term that I am especially confused about because I've heard it applied to so many different cars (V6 Mustangs, ALL convertibles, etc) with little consistency between users. I was sort of opposing the term "guy's car" just to be consistent.

There is no such thing as a chick's car, that's as crazy as saying "Thats a Man's Barbie doll!" ... The only 2 types of cars that exist are ballsy cars and a pussy's car... whats a pussy's car? - one with A/T when there is a M/T available.

Chick cars: Beetle, Jetta..
Rich chick cars: automatic underpowered luxury convertibles.

So are you counting dual clutch type cars as auto?

Yes, yes, yes... I know yours is faster, and we're all really impressed...
i dunno about that statement about 2 good engines on the 1er, especially when there are a lot of post about fuel pump failure.

are you all still seriously arguing about the 128 being a chick car? after a year and a half? such a shallow observation must be based on the perception of Joe Schmo along the street and i have news for you - to Joe Schmo on the street your 135 looks exactly the same as a 128. If the 128 is a chick car then the 135 is a chick car. get over it, they are both great cars.

now, where were we....

well if there wasnt going to be an 1M, they would obviously say there wont be. if there was going to be a 1M, they would say there wont be so people still buy the 135is. isnt that fairly typical BMW?

There are also two types of people, reasonable people and assholes. You sir are an asshole. And what's an asshole? Somebody that makes pointless and incorrect accusations.
