LCI Tail Lights on 7/09 build
Received my lights today and they don't work!!! What do I do....? All I see here is mention of some type of additional "module" or "coding".
Has anyone had to deal with this? If so, what type of additional costs am I looking at? Cheers! |

Plugged in and they will only light up when pedal is pushed. Called dealer and they said car must be coded and quotes me $175. I too thought they were PNP, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I think you have not read this... read my post #51 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...+lights&page=3 I believe after I posted this... one of the venders (EAS ??) here said no coding is nesesary. But that is not what my German dealer told me. I think your car falls under the early builds... so you need the adpator cable and coding. Late build cas are simply "plug & play". Dackel |

"...I asked my parts guys and I have the part numbers for anyone who wants to upgrade their car to the LED look. IF your 1er is built before Sept/'09 you will also need a footwell module AND coding. For cars built after Sep/'09 you only need the new tail lights and one adaptor cable." So your car was built 10/08 and will require coding and maybe a FWM. |

Maybe it works because you did all that crazy stuff with your LCI headlight upgrade.

So there is a possibility that another part - footwell module (whatever that is), is needed too? My dealership only advised me of the software update via ISIS. Seems like this is a somewhat common mod - albeit a newer one, so isn't there someone out here that has gone through this?

12/08 build date on my 2009. Absolutely no issues with my install. PnP. All lights work. Not sure what the issue is with those having them. LCI tails look amazing on my black 135.

SDW335 - Did you try actually turning on your lights manually? I have an 08 built and it def works for me.

Simon, I tried both auto and manual - nothing! Crazy that it works for you and not me....I wonder if being a vert has anything to do with it?

I bet IF you were to have your dealer code the lights... you might also end up with some of the newer SW features like: new DSC icon, new alarm turn signals flashing, new TPMS icon and DME SW flash. |

Tried them again this morning, and this time I pulled the battery. Now they work perfect I guess I should have followed ALL of the DIY instructions instead so skipping a step. Pics will be up later tonight...
Thanks again for all of the feedback ( especially Simon ). Cheers! |
