Smile Forge Motorsport uprated Intercooler for BMW 1M

This uprated intercooler has been designed for the BMW 335 equiped with the N55 (single turbo), and 1M equiped with the N54 (twin turbo) 6 cylinder engine. Our criteria was to achive maximum efficiency whilst retaining a simple fitment. With our testing results indicating increased cooling of up to 30 degrees centigrade and the ability to install this on your driveway at home in under one hour, we have just what we wanted.
After considerable trials with different intercoolers cores, we found that the most efficient for these models, was a core of bar and plate design, and along with an overall increase in dimensions we have been able to improve the cooling ability and reduce the pressure loss across when compared to factory intercooler. In the construction we use CNC machined bayonet couplers which allow an easy plug and play install. The intercooler is supplied with easy to follow instructions and all the parts required.

A reduction in coolong across the rev range with up t0 30 degrees centigrade differential.

Installation instructions:

So it will fit the 135i? I was confused cause your site says 335i and m1 but if it fits with no problem I got to get one!

We just don't have it listed that way, but we will add the 135i to the application.

Am I missing something here? Or is the Forge 400 or more dollars over the ETS at a marginal increase in power increase? The test were done on different days and who knows what changed between that time, too.

But... damn it looks nice as hell. I think they are both solid units. Did you test the 7" ETS intercooler compared to this? I think that would be more fair for the money. Unless you did, then ignore this entire post. lol

Both ETS and Forge are 5" units so I think it's a fair test, temperatures and humidity were nearly identical.

No oil deposits in either unit.

Yes, both are good units. I kept the Forge on my 1M because I am just tired of dealing with silicon couplers and t-bolt clamps that can be hard to access.

So $ wise spent, which one will be better, not trying to debate here but interested to know as both Forge and ETS are quality products.

ETS is obviously the less expensive unit here, but if were up to me I would still spend the extra money to get a direct fit unit with slightly better performance.

i like it but i have few questions compared to other intercoolers who needed to cut a little from the connecting pipes , they look to have more diameters in the intercooler outlet pipe
like the ETS and the other FORGE intercooler , does it make difference in power gains or the air flow ?

i like the stock looking and no cutting require IC but want to know if the others will gian more power and better air flow to the charge pipe
