Do BMW e82 and e90 have interchangeable stereo/head units?

Do BMW e82 and e90 have interchangeable stereo/head units?

The stereo head unit for the BMW 3 series (e90/e91/e92/e93) and BMW 1 series (e82/e87/e88) look the exact same and interchangeable. (for the one without navigation/ no idrives)

The reason i ask is because I searched the forum, couldn't get any results for "double din" the terms were to short.

The guy installs Eonon GA6165 in his BMW 328i looks super clean and OEM.
I think its neat! Im not into the double din by most aftermarket companies because i just doesn't look as OEM. The Eonon GA6165 has external buttons and a touchscreen. The head unit looks clean, simple, and how it should have been produced from the factory.

They do make an aftermarket double din for the E82. There is some info in this thread:

After looking closely in these two photos I'm going to say that the two stereo units are interchangeable.

I was told by customer support at AVIN that they would soon have a E82 unit, their E90 unit looks great so I'm waiting on that.

Talking

I would like to know for sure if their interchangeable, they look the same. I just checked and both the e90 and e82 use the same professional radio part number.

The double-din Android tablets look rad but I am leaning towards an old school single din Alpine. I have been researching this awhile and the setup below is my favorite, clean and simple!

Any Updates on this? Super interested, I had an 06 330i now I have a 2013 135i and I convinced that it should fit. Wondering if you did it yet.

I asked Eonon if the head units designed for the e90 cars would fit in the 1 series and was told that they are not compatible due to the internal computers being different. They do have a request page on the site

The other feature i would need is drive capability, I would like two useable screen my idrive and a aftermarket double din while retaining idrive controller functions and steering wheel.

Isn't this just an Android head unit? Xtrons and Zltoopai make units for the 1 series, look exactly like the Eonon. I just bought one from Aliexpress (Zltoopai) for about $250 and installed it. I got an Octacore with Android 10. It wasn't completely straight forward, but I now have it working well. Canbus works with the steering wheel controls. FM/AM radio sucks, but that's about the only draw back. I am now waiting for my wireless carplay USB module to make phone calls and playing music from my phone a bit easier.

My car already had an Android head unit when I bought it some weeks ago but that didn't work properly with the canbus. No steering wheel controls. I made a thread on the forum which I should update soon. I think the previous owner installed an E46 canbus adapter. I now have one that says X1/E90 I believe (I didn't make a picture...).

If you have an amp you can switch the audio class to your car like e82 to e90 and vice versa.
