Two 135i's on the lot; what would you do?

I'm looking to get back into a 135i and I'm looking at two options; which should I go for? Both are very similarly optioned and priced at $33,000. Both are 1 owner lease returns.

1. CPO 2012 135i with 35,000 miles (2 years, 50K warranty after initial warranty expires).

2. Elite CPO 2012 135i with 5,500 miles (1 year 25K warranty after initial warranty expires).

Basically, I'm asking if I should get the lower mileage vehicle with less warranty or the higher mileage vehicle with more warranty?

Thanks in advance!

I'd say, just from a pure buying perspective, I would go with the one that gets the longer warranty, being that they are three year old BMW's and all. Although, I can imagine that the lower mileage car (especially being that low) is extremely tempting. All else fails, I would, for sure, go with the one that has more options. Considering the mileage of the two vehicles, for me, it would be worth trading 30K miles for more\better options if, for instance, the one with more mileage is a better optioned model.

Yeah, there's some stuff that comes into play here on the moddiing end of things, too. Like, say, you REALLY want to Cobb flash it, I would look at the manufacture date under the hood and go for the oldest if one of them if one has a 2011 mfg. date.

1. is priced a bit on the high side for that much mileage. I would go with the 2.

I would go with the first one for the warranty.
Hopefully both are being sold be a BMW dealer.
Makes no sense that both are the same price; I'm thinking different dealers?
Don't know prices but someone said first car bit over priced.
2012's are 3½ years old now so mileage on first one is 10K per year which is normal.
Can you get maintenance records on each car? Even the 2nd car should have had 3 oil changes (1 per year; I would want to confirm that)
Please keep us posted.

As long as the CARFAX checks out okay, I'd go for the one with 5,500 miles. That baby's barely broken in.

I'm guessing it's neither.

If neither have stick it would be an easy choice, keep looking.

the one with low miles will have newer tires most likely. So it is a thousand dollars less expensive.

Thanks for the replies. Both are DCT. I've owned about 7 cars in my lifetime, and all were 6MT including my current ILX which I'll be trading-in. I've read lots of positive comments from people who have converted from 6MT to DCT. I will be heading out to the dealer shortly for a test drive to see what the DCT is all about. If I don't like the DCT, my next option would be to order a new 2015 Cooper JCW.

If you want a comfortable ride day in and day out, skip the Cooper.. Been there, done that. The Cooper is a fun car but it is the only car I have ever owned that I did not miss at all when I traded it in. I handed the dealer the keys smiling and walked out. It was not because of any issues that it had as it was a great little car.

I had the opposite experience. I had an '09 JCW and I still regret selling it even 3 years later. The newer generation models look awful IMO though. I'm currently looking for a '05-'06 JCW for a daily driver.

As for the original post, I'd go for the one with less mileage.

05-06 R53 may have had a better ride than the 09 R56 I had.

Agree that the first one is expensive for that many miles.
In Feb. I paid $30k for a fully loaded 2012 CPO (still with 1 year factory warranty left too) with 23k miles on it.

A friend of mine had a JCW. Fun car to drive (avoid the potholes at all cost), but the stock stereo was the worst factory car stereo I have ever heard. Seriously. My bare-bones 1993 Saturn with no options or upgrades that I had in college had a better stereo than my friend's $40k JCW. There is no excuse for a stereo that sounds like iphone speakers playing in a tin can.

Something to consider is that the one with 6000 miles will be worth more down in the future when you are looking to trade it in on anther car. And as for the Mini? I Special ordered my 05 Cooper S from the factory and I love that car, they are a ton of fun. Mine is in storage and I'll never sell it.
