Tail Light Help ASAP

Hi. So when I start my car my right tail light will turn on like it's supposed to be but will go off for good after about a minute. I do not understand why. I have replaced the bulbs and it does the same thing. Anyone had this same issue before? Sucks because I cannot drive it without a lit tail light so I'm kinda stuck here lol. All help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You may want to post what year you have. My 2009 had a recall by BMW because the led strips would go out. So the bulbs still worked, but the led strip/running lights didn't. That looks like the same thing you may have going on.

My fault I've been posting this everywhere I forgot to leave the year. That is exactly what is happening the bulbs all work fine but it will turn on the go off like in the picture. It's a 2008 135i. Thank you for the reply.

So yeah, you might want to check recalls and see if yours still falls under the recall. I forget why, but it wasn't something they could fix and they just ended up replacing both of mine.

Thanks for all the replies guys.. I had to take it to the dealer. They ended up replacing both and saying it was a wiring issue unfortunately. :/

Huh. Well glad they are fixed but... wiring issue? Came from the factory that way, corroded, loose parts fell the rest of the way apart? Sounds like a catch-all answer - "we don't know, we'll just throw parts at it and hope for the best".

Did you have to pay for it?

I haven’t looked into much on my 135i , but my daughters X3 has had the control board go out on the left rear side. So I found replacement control boards on Amazon

But I opted for these LDD drivers for less and less worry on burning out again. Let you know how it goes.

LDD for Tail Lights

Well the swap out went well.... took about 15 minutes per light assy. I soldered the LDD’s onto the harness and hot glued the LDD itself to the housing of each assy. I’d say if you want to save some big bucks try these.

Could've bought a set for that much!
