Competition is ultimately good for the ultimate driving machine. Keeps BMW on its toes, and motivates them to improve a good thing.

Transcending styling, functionality and performance, the article did not touch much upon feelings of class and prestige. Even this is open to subjective opinion, but in my book, the BMW wins hands down in this department.

Both cars do a lot of things wonderfully. I just feel that the Bimmer does it with a little more traditional reputation, style and class.

These guys who rated the cars are not enthusiasts. The BMW is an enthusiast's car, plain and simple. All that matters to me is the final comparison: Driving. The other categories don't influence my purchase. Like CMD above, I didn't even consider any Japanese models when I was shopping.

The IS pulls ahead with a larger cargo area, more interior storage capacity, and as simple as it may sound, better cupholders.

I say :finger: !
If I need cupholders I will be in a Dodge Caravan forum right now!

So the Lexus wins because it is a middle aged woman's car.

At least they clearly did state: "For driving enthusiasts, it’s all about the 2006 BMW 330i. But for buyers looking to sacrifice a bit of sport for added comfort and functionality, the 2006 Lexus IS 350 is the way to go."

I also found it interesting that they test drove the 330i SP with an auto... I guess they had to since the IS350 doesn't come with a manual
