Throttle, rear end slide

When I push the throttle down fast it feels like the rear end is slipping and sliding. This could be loss of traction or the act of one wheel grabbing and then the other wheel grabbing. I could replace the RFT tires, and will do so when needed, but for now is it the tires and traction control?

Would be exactly what you describe if its that slipping feeling. If its a grab and jerk it would be something else.

What an asshole.
No jerking movement, just as if the tires are not digging down and pushing the car forward. Just feels like the wheels are not grabbing and the back sways a little left/right. I guess I could try with the traction control off (one click). Tks for your comment.

Try with DTC (1 press), then with DSC full off (hold it in) and note the differences.

If the road is slippery, you won't get traction. There's one intersection where I always end up sliding a bit and losing traction because the road is slick.

Yes, I will try this during my next outing. I think it will make a difference.

Agree. The streets are as dry as a bone. It happens no matter where I am. I was doing about 20MPH and hit the gas, not going past the (whatever you call it) area just before full down pedal and the back still felt mushy.

I believe the feeling you are talking about is caused by the crappy bushings in the rear cradle. Upgrading them the rear to M3 bushings will help.

My car does the same thing. If I'm in 3rd gear @ 60MPH then go WOT then rear "sways" left and right. Thats the sensation you're complaining about right? Its the crap rear sub frame bushings our cars come with.

Agree with this. Always happened until replacing the sub frame bushings.

I'm almost positive this is caused by the stock rear subframe bushings. You should upgrade to the M3 variants

Bushings - yes. I need to get mine done.

Also the DTC Is ultra-sensitive in our cars. I can break the tires loose pretty easy (with the winters, real easy). Even if the light isn't coming on (it's pretty slow to illuminate) you can feel it kick in and start to cut power and clamp a brake. I can break the tires loose between 2-3 and once in awhile, 3-4.

Another way to feel the inadequate bushings is where there is some mid-turn bumps and the rear steps out a little bit then wiggles back. I have a favorite on ramp where the expansion joints are raised and this is my standard test drive road.PSS tires helped a little with that.

Ditching the RFTs helped slightly, but the 135 has a case of the wiggle butt.

I didn't read all the replies but if you have the Bridgestone 050, with mine when I hit about 9k miles on the rears traction dropped dramatically, that was well before the wear markers.

Could this also be (related to) the electronic "LSD"?

No. A diff of any kind for RWD, FWD, 4WD or AWD is not going to make the entire car sway left to right or wiggle in a turn. Thats 100% suspension.
