MP3 Data CDs
Hello all.
I have the premium audio in the 135i. I don't have the iPod attachment (which I regret). So, I have been trying to use MP3 data CDs burned through media player. The CD player always has a very difficult time recognizing these CDs, if at all. When it does reconnize, it takes 10sec plus to do so. Especially when the car is cold, is usually reads "CD ERROR." It has happened on every CD I've burned. Does anyone have any ideas....its a pain. How can I speed the process of playing an MP3 CD??? How do I avoid CD ERROR?? Another issue is that the music seems soft...like I can't get the volume high enogh when I play there CDs..... THANKS.:iono:

Does it play regular CD's ok? What bit rate are the MP3 files? I burned about a dozen MP3 using Nero and I used Music Match Jukebox to originally create the MP3's. Do these CD's that you have burned sound ok on your computer? Try experimenting with different bit rate settings, and a different brand of blank CD media.

I use VBR, burned from Nero, with no problems whatsoever. I also have the the non-nav, Premium Hifi option. As for media, I'm using Verbatim. They are a cheapie brand too.
I do have to say that I've only used it a few times, since I also have Sirius and the iPod/USB option. |

yeah regular CDs seem to play ok. i think the problem might be that media player makes "folders" showing the album/artist, etc. i am guessing this is what takes SO much time for it to load, and/or is causing the "CD ERROR" does nero do this.....guess i gotta try nero..... thanks.

I've used iTunes with success.
Edit your preferences by choosing the advanced, burning tab, and change disc format to MP3 CD. Create a playlist, then burn playlist to CD. |

Don't forget to burn the CD's at a slower speed. I hear that anything above 16x will usually have alot of skpping. That's why i usually burn my disks anywhere from 8x to 12x speeds.

i think i found a solution using media player...itunes is too selective for me.....hates non apple products.
burn in win media player, but DO NOT ADD folder information...just burn an MP3 CD without adding folders....its a burn option

Make sure you're using reaosnable quality disks, and not rewritables, this difference.

Don't waste your time with CDs. If you have premium audio, you have a USB jack. Just buy a 16GB USB flash drive for less than $100 and put your whole collection on that. CDs in my car are now a thing of the past.

another tip i just learned, however obvious it may be to some....
do NOT keep the recording session open for future additions... CLOSE the burn session so future additions are not necessary....makes a big diff on the way the CD player reads the disc

sry to bring up an older thread but i also want to play MP3 data CDs with my CD-charger and my NaviProf. I searched a little bit in several german forum and found this settings on a german user site:
As described on the page, this settings are working good with the NaviProf of the E90 (my08 version). If you need the translation of the keywords, just let me know! I havent burned MP3 data CDs for my CD-charger, but i plan to do it tomorrow with that settings. I hope that the MP3 data CDs will work.. MP3 audio CDs already working good, but its very uncomfortable with only 20 songs..
