Insurance VIN problem
After talking to numerous insurance companies none of them seem to be able to decode VIN for my 135I as a result I don't think they are actually giving me correct quotes. Anyone else having same problems?

Yes, I had a similar problem....I had to get AAA an actual 135i VIN number for them to give me a quote. Not my VIN, since I didn't yet have it at the time, but one I got off a dealer website for one of their inventory cars. AAA told me that it's because the cars are so new and this is the first model year.

Guess I'm having the same problem. My agent ending up getting me insurance through Pekin insurance and when the policy came in the mail today I saw that the car listed was 4dr 328i. I called my agent and he told me that if my VIN listed on the policy is correct then I should have no problems, he told me that since the car is so new they may not have their systems updated for while.

Yep, insurance companies are the last to know about new cars it seems. The only way to add my MINI to my poolicy at the time was to list it as a BMW and the model was MINI. They had no place left for differentiation between the standard MINI Cooper and the Cooper S, so I probably got a break on rates for a while.

I have 335i listed on my insurance card now. But I have called and they made the correction it on their end. The CSR told me as long as the VIN is correct I have nothing to worry about.
Actually I had a similar issue when I applied for my car loan. The guy from the bank never heard for the 1 series before and the VIN didn't give him much info. So he actually called my dealership to make sure that car exists |
