Next "daily" car: C63, M2, M3?
Pretty awesome news came last week when Google acquired my company (decent payday) so I've decided to pickup a more modern daily.
Right now I have the white ghetto 1M clone track car which I'll probably add a DCT tranny along with a full 1M conversion and continue to track that. My 135i daily is pretty beat and my little brother is turning 16 soon so it might be be his first car (scary thought). I'm looking at M3, M2, C63, RS3, M240i... Since you're all track rats and I want a fun/fast daily I was thinking of other non-German cars?

Congrats! All decent choices I just have a hard time with the M240i and not getting an M2.
What about a Shelby GT350 Mustang? Similar price range, those cars fly on track sound insane and you just swap your tires/pads for the drive home at most. |

I haven't really thought about American cars... A 350R would be awesome, or a 1LE even though they're super uncomfortable on the street. I would probably lean Mustang > 1LE. Trying to keep my new car budget around $50-60k used/CPO. Regardless - my turbos are going out on the DD 135i so I'll probably install some pure st2 turbos if I keep it, just to have a hooning car haha.

If I had to choose a daily I'd get an rs3 or a M240i. An RS3 might be better as it holds its value more being an RS car and has the capability of being a supercar killer with some basic mods.

Honestly if I were looking at that kind of cash decision - it'd be looking for a 1M to stuff in the garage, sell the 1er, and buy a used Toyota 4Runner to park outside as the daily. The 1M is an investment, low mile, keep museum car.

I might test drive a 991.2 Carrera S too. Just concerned about maintenance and looking like a douchebag in a P-car, with a tune they're pretty quick. The RS3 is an awesome car (speed, size, nice interior, 4 doors, etc) really checks all the boxes. M2 Comp is great but will probably depreciate a ton over the next few years. I'm leaning toward the M3/4 to get the S55 in a car that's already depreciated. I also need DCT to let the wife drive when I steal her Jeep to tow with. Really tough decision... So many options these days in that price range.

Supra. m2 comps are also great! Bay Area traffic though with a 6 speed if you went that route.
M4’s are very nice and fast as you know and the depreciation is real. I have a DCT 135i and it’s “pretty good” on track. Not PDK level. Definitely would benefit from a trans cooler (like the e92 M3). BMS offers the deeper pan with cooking fins which I’ll add on mine after the LSD. Congrats!! Last edited by Relegate; 06-16-2019 at 10:21 AM.. |

Not by chance looker is it?
I went the cheap route and opted for a Fiesta ST. Fun car, not too quick to prevent me from getting in too much trouble, and cheap so I can spend more money on track time! |

STs are so much fun, the low end torque and weight make them amazing DDs. I love my E82 but I wish it had some modern amenities. I'd consider an m235i, add an LSD & a tune but I love the body of the M2. I'm pretty torn right now, definitely don't want to go crazy but I'll probably pick something up for sub-$50k. Might even keep the E82 and swap a big turbo for silly runway events, I've always wanted to try that. Right now I'm looking at used an C63Amg, M3/4, M2 or RS3 (the weight of the GTR/Gt350 is silly and their interiors suck) My buddy at Tesla is trying to get me into a CPO P90 Model-S but I'm not sure I'm ready for full electric. Too many options in this price range. I guess it's a good problem to have since I've never owned a car that was <10yrs old lol

I would pick up something you can tow the car to the track with. Just picked up a Diesel myself. Tows anything and returns decent mileage doing it... the torque on tap makes the BMW feels slow now too lol

Have you considered a Golf R? Friend of mine picked one up a while ago and with minor modifications (I think he did a rear sway bar and maybe tires) was super fast, especially pulling out of corners with the awd.
If it weren't for a ton of modifications on his 996 Carrera 4C (coilovers, headers, brakes, wheels, cup 2s, etc) the Golf would have been faster for sure. |

I’m an m2 comp or m3 fan. But...my buddy has an rs3 and they are absolute monsters. For a daily driver, the awd allows you to use all of the power anytime you want.
