Anything higher than 91 octane in the US?

Can you get a higher octane other than 91 in the US. How about using an octane booster to add to the fuel?
Any thoughts?

You sure can. Here in Chicago 93 is available and I've been putting it in my E39 since the first tank.

We have 92 here in Hawaii. I've seen 94 at Sunco in certain states.

We also have 100 Cool Blue at special 76 Stations.

I've tried 100 octane in my M3 and I really didn't notice any benefit. Unless your ECU is tuned for high octane gas (100 and above), your car will not benefit from it.

My buddy had a 5.0 mustang, and he always used to buy these little bottles from kragen.. i think they were like boosters or something? He'd add them in his tank to get more power.. dont know if it really worked?

what's the problem?????

the car's designed to run on 91, you won't get any extra HP by running anything higher than that so why on earth would you want to???

I'm sure you could find some 110 octane race gas for $7 a gallon but the car wouldn't perform any better.

Just buy your 91 and enjoy the car.

93 is available in lots of states though, no performance gain is to be had though

98 octane here in Australia. I understand the E90s are tuned for 98 octane. If you do use a lower grade of fuel, the ecu adjusts the timing resulting in a power reduction, just like the current E46s, unlike my previous 320i E36 that had to use premuim fuel otherwise engine damage would result according to the BMW literature.

you really wont get any performance with higher octane unless you have some type of ECU tunning for it

And why is that? Just curious

I have not used anything but Costco gas in any vehicle I have had for years...no problems and my engines run great.

Plus they sell for cheap, sometimes at a loss to stay lower than the rest (used to be a Costco manager if you wonder why I say that).

I have nothing aganst Costco gas and actually use it in my 745Li since it's a fuel monster and it's leased...But last week, the check engine light came on and the iDrive display read, "Emissions Problem, Visit Workshop." I brought the car in and my service advisor tells me, "sounds like a case of bad gas, we've been seeing quite a few 7's in for CE lights." Our local Costco gets their gas from one of the two refineries here in Hawaii, and is the same gas found as some of the smaller, local brand gas stations.

I can't say for sure if it was Costco gas, but I'll continue to use it since it's almost $0.25 cheaper than any other station in my market. For the cars I own, I don't mind springing the extra money since I don't drive those cars so much.

My usual station (reigional chain mini-mart type) has 93 octane which I religiously use and have never had any problems. Sunoco stations have 94 octane most everywhere. As previously stated, you won't necessarily get a performance boost, but it will keep your engine cleaner over the long run. The choice is how much $$ do you want to spend at the pump vs. the benefit.

At the same pump here... you can get - 87,88,89,91,93,100 - Then there's another one for race fuel, at 110. Of course, standard premium is $2.66gallon right now to... and the 100 is $7 a gallon. So... it's kinda like picking your poison. My wife and I both have to use premium though, which sucks donkey balls.

Sunoco Ultra 94 is the highest in NJ that I see unless you buy race fuel from the Sunoco that I use in Lakewood.

87, 89, 93 octane is generally available in the Houston area. The 93/89 delta is about $0.20 to $0.25 for the most part with 89 in between. I will probably use the 93 when my 325i comes in in August.
