How many Yr 1 of the 1 Orginal Owners Remain?

Just curious how many purchased new in 08 and still have?
I'm one (no pun) and still REALLY enjoy the car every time I reach for the keys. Plan to hang onto quite a while longer. 126k miles of bliss (mostly). And counting...

I'm the OP, still have mine, over 13 years and 140k miles now hard to believe! As much as I've enjoyed the car the allure of having a new C8 Vette has caught my fancy and is soon to deliver... Sadly "Pudge" must move on

My parent's still have their 1er. I believe it has 44k miles still! I secretly have been doing maintenance on it whenever they go on vacation such as brake fluid flushes and coolant flush. When they hit 60k miles I will be tackling ATF and power steering fluid for them.

If anyone knows who owns the following Year-One of the 1 car, I have their book!

VK40078
(Jet Black/beige 135iA convertible sold in VA but recent recall in done in Wilimington, NC. This one is actually a 2009 produced in September 2008. Certificate No. 11091

I also have a book marked VIN KP32227
(oddly enough, this VIN shows as a 2007 Monaco Blue 328xiA SULEV sold in CT)
These books have the original BMW VIN stickers inside the front cover with production date, etc. Can't imagine how that second one got a 328 VIN. The service history shows a production date of 11/06 while the sticker in the book shows "128i 02/08". Weird, isn't it? The Certificate in the inside rear cover shows a 128i Coupe in Sedona Red with Coral Red upholstery and a production date of 3/08 and delivery date of 5/08 with an embossed stamp from Leipzig with "First Year of Production" and Hubert Raumberger's signature. The Certificate No. on that one is 00001 so I have to assume it is a dummy for dealer display.

The book itself is a treasure. It opens with David E. Davis talking about the inspiration for his memorable Car and Driver article "Turn Your Hymnals to 2002" and the book includes not only a reprint of that entire article but an update with the 1-series written by Davis' son, Matt, in addition to other articles and reviews drawing on the 2002 comparison. There's also a section written by the BMWCCA's Bob Roemer with quotes from Mike Miller and Dave Farnsworth. There's a section on the 1-series design which avoids actually crediting the designer, Chris Chapman, and instead focuses on the "other" Chris and his limelight-seeking successor, Adrian van Hooydonk. It's still a pretty amazing publication. I'm happy to pass it along to the rightful owner of the 2009 135i Convertible, if they and the car still exist—or care. Otherwise I'm happy to hang on to both of them!

I see a recall done this year in Wilmington, NC, on the BMW service history. No name or address registered.
