Assuming that both engines gain roughly 100 to 150Nm torque per second, the initial torque difference stays for some seconds giving the 1M the advantage I was mentioning.

However on the dyno where the engine spools up quite slowly, both engine's torque curves will look very similar.

The TT-RS has 50kg less weight and together with the RS3 it will be quicker when accelerating from standstill due to 4WD and DCT. I expect the 1M to have the same (or even marginally better) Nürburgring times than the TT-TS which has 8:09. I personally wouldn't call that "blowing out of the water"
My bad, I was misinformed. I thought the TT-RS was getting 415HP or something around that. If it is only 340PS like the RS3, then yes, it will around the same or a bit slower than the 1M.

Maybe you were thinking of the new Quattro concept. It has same engine (2.5 TFSI) and makes allegedly 400+ ish HP. Pretty sweet ride

Yes, I was thinking of that, about 2800lbs and 400+HP!

Too bad it is looking to be outrageously priced, like the TT-RS......

The TT-RS should be base $50,000 and the Quattro base $70,000.

Agreed. Magazines claim the quattro (if indeed gets production) will be priced in between the TT-RS and R8, but since both are overpriced, I guess this one would be too

But for me, whether it be 1M or RS3, it will just be used around town as my other cars are better tools on the track etc.
Agree...

I hadn't taken into account the TT series is around 69% aluminium in its build, so power/weight is at an advantage with the TT series over the A3's...

I too would choose the new 1M over the RS3 all things considered, but would gladly add the rest (ie if I could) and get a TT-RS over a 1M, pity here in Aust. we pay so much for vehicles like these
