Who's complaining about cosmetics? We are talking about functionality of what should be a vent to help cool the engine bay or brakes.

Respectfully disagree. The only purpose for a crease in this area is to vent. Put your engineering hat on for a few minutes and you'll never use your cosmetic hat ever again.

Dear BMW, your BMW //1M will not perform well on the track because the engine bay and brakes cannot breathe. This was determined by looking at a photo. I just know any car without side venting is a waste of time. I think you should consider redesigning the 1M for better track performance. When it is ready for the track for real, let me know.

Hooydunk had a few 10%ers when he drew up "The Crease"

Chug 2 1667s , RotoZip it, add wire mesh and problem solved. Maybe BMW will sell a kit. Ahhh, the road rage has left my body.

Or pray some sexy girl doesn't giggle and point out the fake vents. That would be embarrasing.

From looking at the 1M @ BMW Welt, the vertical vents in the front are functional, channeling air to the edge of the wheel well. The "vents" in the rear were purely cosmetic.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what those thin little vents would accomplish in the rear. I'm skeptical enough about the fronts but since they've got a cool name (Air-Blade technology) I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, lol.

Shouldn't there be clearer "updated" pics by now? This is typical after these first unveilings it seems.

I think Scott said a while back that the designers incorporated the "vents" in the rear to break up (hide) the size (similar to the X6M) so that it's ass didn't look too big!
