Rearview mirror part number request (1M PP2)

For those of you who have upgraded your review mirror to one with more features, could you please post a pic showing the *original* part number (i.e., of the one your removed)? Specifically, I'm looking for the number from a 1M equipped with Premium Package 2 (no alarm), need it for a cross-reference check.

I'd like to add a compass and Homelink, but do not want to loose any pre-swap functionality. From what I've seen, nobody has verified *all* original features still work, particularly highbeam assist.

Using http://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/s...roduct=3480466, it appears the only part that will fit my requirement is 51 16 9 225 980. For those of you with an alarm, the number appears to be 51 16 9 225 988. These mirrors offer highbeam assist, autodim, and autowiper compatibility + homelink + compass. Not sure whether they have the later model stubby clown nose.

Check out the following link:

As far as I know, no US 1M was ever available with highbeam assistant. Since you have no alarm, you will want the following combo of features on your new mirror.

EC/GTO/Compass

The p/n's for the mirrors are a bit strange as I have seen and held mirrors with p/n's on them that wont come up in any diagram search or cross reference. My advice to you is to not worry about the p/n and just make sure the mirror has the features you are looking for.

Honestly, I'm not sure. The owner's manual implies its may, but it also indicates 1M's "high-performance V8 engine runs a little more roughly due to its emissions control system" during warm-up

I may have to visit the dealer this weekend to see if there's an obvious difference between mirrors with and without.

I think BMW forgot to proofread the manual...

Anyone have a picture of a 128/135 with FLA (high beam assist)? It's a $250 standalone option.

Way off-topic, but I wonder if the 5500 RPM break-in restriction is an M3 hangover as well. 5.5k isn't *that* far away from the 7k limiter on the 1M, but pretty far from the M3's 8.4k limit.

My PCD delivery rep indicated a 4.5k break-in should be respected, which is in agreement with the 335is recommendation...

The N54 335i's manual stated 4500 RPM so I believe your suspicion is correct sir.
