Classy looking car...

Did you ever do your suspension upgrades?

Or still trying to decide what to go with?

Very nice photo, btw.

Thanks!

haha, i've FINALLY decided to go with the Bilstein B8's with my existing m-sport springs. i went back and forth with the Koni Yellows and just replacing the darn things with full 100% OEM M-sport dampers. after all this back and forth, i decided on the B8's.

to me, being able to 'adjust' the dampers on the Koni Yellows is actually a disadvantage. i am more of a 'set it and forget it' and want things to work straight out of the box. this is my daily driver and having to toy around with the suspension settings would just be damn annoying. OH! and did i mention that the rears are NOT externally adjustable? so every time i want an adjustment done, i'll need to bring the car to my mechanic, tear stuff apart, pay for labour, and repeat until i deem the settings 'good'? that is just ridiculous for me!

i'll be getting the suspension install kit from ECS tuning so i could refresh some of those parts as well.

the only issue here now is that Bilstein B8's have been on back order for a long long long time. not too sure when they'll arrive but in the meantime, i'll just ride in blown springs.

surprisingly, blown bmw dampers don't feel that bad! i remember in other cars i've owned; if the dampers were shot, then you could tell super easily whereas right now, the ride quality is still quite firm and good. it rebounds nicely... honestly, i wouldn't have even known that i needed to replace the dampers if i didnt physically inspect them! maybe this goes to show the high quality-ness of bmw!

Do you get the "squish" sound going over speed bumps? That's what clued me in that mine were blown...

Then when I actually pulled wheels and took an honest look- wowsers- oily wet strut bodies, bump stops destroyed...

I used the install kit from ECS as well, but beware there are a few bits not included. I've still got a part number list filed away somewhere, including a list of what all didn't get used, if you're interested

yep! i noticed the 'squish' -- sorta like air shooting out from somewhere -- noise a while ago and that's what prompted me to investigate further.

i would 100% be interested in what the ECS kit doesn't include, which i would presumably need, and what the ECS kit includes that i will not need.

Do you have your wheel info in regard to make/model, size and the offset please? Trying to make a decision on wheels in the next few months...

they're from BMW! the model is 'style 313'.

if you decide to go with these wheels, be careful with which you order. they were made in both 18" and 19". the 18's are for the 135i while the 19's are for the 335i.

size and measurements are similar to the factory style 261. don't have the exact measurements but i'm sure you can google them.

i use 225/40/18 tires on the front and 255/35/18 tires on the rear. for tires, i am using Michelin Pilot Sport 4S all around.

I have the 18" BMW Performance 313s as well and personally think they're the nicest looking wheels for the 1 series.

They look great on your AW 1er!

olds350, here are the sizes, offsets, and part numbers:

Front - 18x7.5 ET49 P/N 36-11-6-787-645

Rear - 18x8.5 ET52 P/N 36-11-6-787-646

Edit: just checked a couple of sites and it appears that the rears are NLA. Probably will be the same for the fronts soon as well. This seems to be the same story for some other BMW Performance parts for the 1 series.

The "M" version of these wheels (313M for the 135is) might still be available. Sorry, don't know those part numbers. Shouldn't be hard to find if you're interested or maybe someone who knows will chime in.

OFHG fixed. Glad it's done as it was puking oil all over the place. The under tray got covered and multiple puddles were forming on the garage floor under the car. Tech said oil wasn't dripping out but blowing out of the housing. Explains why when I did the oil change not long ago everything seemed fine and how rapid the failure seems to have occurred along with the severity.

@hunginator amazing picture with your new phone!! The car looks so glossy for being AW.

low135, don't buy a beater and enjoy every mile in that car. My 1er has never been this consistently dirty than it has been for the past two months. It is a liberating feeling not giving a shit and just enjoying the drive every time you fire up those 6 cylinders!

Didn't plan on buying a beater per say. I've been looking at some options, one being an E91 328i wagon. That way I could haul parts around without too much fuss. Just would like to keep the 135i relegated to fun milage and not stuck in traffic coming home from work milage

Had to have some costly repairs done:
Valve cover replacement, fuel pressure sensor, pre-cat O2 sensor, and cost of labor chasing down a boost leak that I couldn't find (turned out to be just after the turbo.

This after replacing charge pipe and MAP sensor myself recently.

But Hrothgar is back up to running in tip-top shape.

I've decided to keep it even longer, but spring may bring a turbo upgrade and all the accoutrements.
Either that or suspension upgrade (springs, front control arms).

I am considering ordering this kit for the RSFBs:

https://www.amazon.de/SENLUOWX-Silen...w+bushing+tool

It does say it works on the E82 1 series as well as the thread tool looks short enough for the front RSFB (i know space is limited there), any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, me too!
I want to enjoy having no car payment for a while. It's been many years since that was the case.

At some point I will have to transition to something else for DD purposes, but even then I think I am going to try to keep the 1er. It is and has been a special car.
