I picked one up as well after reading Dackelone thread. Great customer service, the shipment was delayed and they refunded me the shipping cost as an apology. Can you tell me what the measurement was for the transmission plug? Thanks

Do you happen to know if the AT fluid bolt is the same size? I really need to ditch the ECS plug in my oil pan, i'm scared as hell it's going to break off or do some shenanigans.
Magnetic drain plugs FTW keep us updated

Just changed my oil. I picked up a Dimple as well. I think their pricing is almost ridiculous, but at least it seems like a good product and I couldn't find a great source for other BMW compatible magnets.
![]() Here's their plug compared to the stocker I pulled. ![]() No issues getting the new Dimple plug installed. Note some of the height difference is a taller head, but there are about 2 extra threads of length as well. Not much else to note. It was an oil change job. Once I'm due for another change I'll post a picture of the plug. I'm not entirely sure drain plug magnets are a huge deal in car engines, either. The filter should do its job. If you are paranoid you can always change your filter between oil changes, too. I use this filter, only $9.14 shipped with Prime: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001DRHMRI I use this filter wrench as well, works great: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000XML6DU

Are you sure the MT drain/fill plugs aren't M18X1.5X12?

Nice to see you guys have bought these Dimple plugs. I really like mine. In another week or so I will be changing my oil(I already installed the Dimple plug on my e39, have not had time yet on my 135i) so I will have some pics for you guys soon.
![]() I am very curious to see how much metal particles the Dimple plugs pick up. You can tell the Dimple plugs are way stronger than my old UUC plug. ![]()

Just placed an order for the M12X1.5X18 engine oil drain and the M18X1.5X12 manual transmission oil drain Dimple plugs. Will install these when I change my fluids next time on my manual 6-speed 2011 135i, probably before I start the lapping season here in Quebec, Canada, or soon thereafter.

Good question. I hope they wont give you a hard time for this added preventive maintenance item. Maybe ask your service advisor to use the dimple plug on your next free oil change. If they give you a hard time, just do the oil change yourself going forward ($50-$60 in parts and oil here in Canada).

Have these in the engine & diff, will also put in transmission next time. Cheap insurance in the grand scheme of things. Recommended.

I asked my local BMW service advisor, and he has no problem getting my engine drain bolt installed during my free yearly BMW oil change in 2 weeks.
I will put in the tranny dimple bolt myself obviously, when I do my yearly tranny fluid replacement. Engine oil gets replaced twice a year, even with the low mileage (<10,000Kms), because the car visits the track often.

Last month I installed the Dimple Plugs on my e39 535iA. The car has 349K kms on it and I change the oil every 10K to 12K kms. I bought the car with 243K kms on it. I use Mobil-1 0w40 LL1 oil(US oil) in my e39. I use about a quart of oil every 8K kms.
I was really surprised on how much metal particles the Dimple Plug picked up. I will be installing the Dimple Plug on my 135i in a week or so - time permitting. Anyways... check out my photos! ![]()

I finally got around to installing my Dimple magnetic plug & changing me engine oil!
Previously I had been using a UUC one magnetic plug. I was sort of happy with it but in doing the last few oil changes I noticed the blue paint UUC used was starting to chip off. And they glued the magnet in place and I really liked the cleaner design of the Dimple unit. All I can say is the Dimple unit is really quite strong and well made. I really like it. ![]() Only downside is the Dimple plug is kind of pricey. But... you do get what you pay for. And I am very happy with Dimple's oil drain plug. ![]() This is all the metallic junk that your filter doesn't catch... UUC (left) Dimple (right)... In this video you can see me struggling to remove the Dimple(lower one) plug vs the UUC unit.

http://www.1addicts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=306 ![]() I have the Dimple on-deck for my next oil change, but I probably won't even install in for another 10 months and then look at the results in a year past that. I know you'll post your results long before me. |

I have these plugs installed on my oil sump and two of them on the transmission. They fit quite well and the quality is exceptional.
