M-sport or Sport?
Hi guys.
I'll be ordering within the week. I've worked a good deal, now I just have to decide on some of the options. I've looked on BMW's site about the M sport vs. sport and basically the M comes with anthracite headliner and different wheels. That's about it. Right now I like the regular sport wheels better. The split 5 spoke of the M sport isn't as appealing on the website pics. Anyone have better pics of the M sport wheels? Also, any opinions on the 2 pkgs are welcome. I'm sure we have fans either way. Let's hear it. |

M-Sport. I didn't like the wheels at first until I saw them on another car.

The anthracite headliner on the M-Sport is worth the added price of admission by itself.
Then throw in the well designed and gorgeous double spoke Type 261's and it's a slam dunk imo. But then, I'm a sucker for double spoke wheels. I run single spoke Type 96's on the Touring in winter, but the other 8 months it's the double spoke ZHP style 135M's that get the nod. Double spokes can be a PITA to keep clean, but in both static and rolling display they are a thing of beauty to behold. The optimum stock setup for a snow belter might be 264's in winter and 261's the remaining months. The addition of Le Mans blue was the hook for me. But mating it to the M-Sport is what sealed the deal.

+1. I really wish I had that anthracite headliner. Everything else can be added separately if I really want it.

I'm worried that it would make the interior feel too dark because I'm getting black leather seats. That pic does show the wheels in a much better way. The split spoke has a little curve to it. Now, I like the both. I read the BMW price sheet and it shows that both the sport and M sport have a higher MPH rating, but I didn't see anything that says that the M version actually gets a higher rpm. To get higher rpm you would have to change the internals, unless the standard 135i engine is only software limited. I've never seen a dyno showing higher rpm either, in sport of M sport. Can anyone else comment on this? |

Wrong M-Sport steeringwheel is far from cosmetic.

But, there was a comment that the RPM was raised the M sport pkg, not the speed limiter. The speed is limited electronically lower the the rev limiter. The increased speed limit will allow you nearer to redline. If that's what the poster meant, then yes I'm aware of that. But, he said "rpm" was raised, and I take that to me that the redline has been raised. Is THAT true? |

The M adds: darker headliner different wheels The rest is the same. So, in a sense the M is added cosmetics, unless the wheels are lighter, then they would have a positive effect on performance. |

Yea my bad, RPM90 is correct about the steering wheel. When I test drove a 135 it was without any sports package, thats why I thought the steeringwheel was different.
