It's like damn, I'll just get all new tires for that price. :/

Maybe someone can point me in the right direction to get one at a reasonable price? I'd really appreciate it. I'm in North Carolina if that helps.
Must it be exactly what Dackel has? Would a full size tire in the trunk cramp your style too much?

No, not really. When I talked with the BMW dealership about this, they said a BMW rim and tire would be like 1100$ though. As far as having an actual replacement, and I assume it would be for the front, seeing as the front and rear are different sizes.

Stop and think why they call it a spare. It is used in emergencies. Find a curbed wheel on craigslist or facebook, and put an old tire on it. Or you can spend $1,100 for something that will probably rot in your trunk.

I have a set of 16s from a Z3 with tires that I autocrossed with that you can have cheap.

Yep, for emergency and just piece of mind knowing that I have a spare in the trunk should something happen. I think the main thing is, that the spare would have to fit over the brake calipers? I'm just looking for something at a 200-250$ range, for a wheel and tire spare, nothing fancy. Just something for an emergency.

A 17 inch or bigger will clear our huge front calipers. I've been through this myself after I changed to normal tyres.

I bought a used BMW 17" wheel, put one of my runflats on it when I went to regular tires, and got an Ebay Mercedes C class jack that fits our jack points perfectly. Also got a decent air compressor and a plug kit.

The spare takes up about 1/2 the trunk so if I'm traveling it stays home. I know it doesn't make much sense to have a spare riding around town and not having one when traveling, but...

Thanks for the idea, might do this myself. How much you end up spending on it all?

Around $110 for a BMW style 262 wheel and around $70 for the jack.

This was about 5 years ago, so numbers are from rough memory and I'm sure everything is pricier now.

I've carried my compact spare/jack in the trunk for 100,700 miles and 14 years and have yet to use it. In hindsight having a air compressor in the trunk for nail leaks would get you to a tire service shop for repair.
