If it doesn't rain all weekend here is what is on tap:

Berk Street exhaust install <DONE>

The Berk street has a nice bass tone and is not loud at all, you can soft pedal it around the neighborhood. It gets a little louder when pushed but never intrusive. Car sounds great with it on there.

It does not have the near perfect tone of the PE but it does sound very good.

I had to use a 3"ID adapter to a 2.5" ID adapter that I then used a band clamp to mate to the oem 128i pipe. I'll probably have it welded up soon.

Burger cowl intake filters <DONE>

Very little change in sound, maybe a little more intake sound.

Photos and audio soon.

Modifying a spare airbox to get more flow
Adding large OEM cupholder mount

Modified air box cover.

So I picked up a spare airbox from a 2011 auto.

Has a different maf in it compared to the one in my car.

If someone needs an airbox back and maf for a 2011 auto (with carbon filter removed) let me know.

So I checked where the air flow would be coming from with my 135 bumpers. Basically the entire driver side vent dumps into the space behind the headlight with no vents for brake cooling like you would have in the 135.

I think the under hood temps will be no different once car is moving. I'll be watching intake air temp with an OBDII reader real time.

I removed a large portion of the front cover.

Reinstalled with the K&N filter already in the car and unleashed the BMW intake sound!!!

Wow what a great sound. THAT is what the car should sound like.

Throttle response feels quicker. Butt dyno says YES!!!!

So it is about a 5 minute swap to go between stock and modified covers.

Once I confirm temps are close to ambient under way I will call it a success.

Sounds like a good project for this weekend. Will do.

I like it.

not as sexy as the PE though. In some ways "meatier" and better. The 3 " drainpipe probably has something to do with that.

Looking forward to it! Finding my 128i was hard enough, seems the PE is even harder to find.

Love what you've done with your car.

Installed my FCP Euro TRW M3 control Arms today.

A couple of tips:

You need a 21 MM and a T40 Torx to remove the bolts on the ball joints.

To get the rear arm into its slot at the inboard end I used a file to ease the edge and also used a crescent wrench to ever so slightly open the aluminum mount on the subframe. It take very little to bend the aluminum it is very soft.

Remember to get the car on the ground with the inner suspension bolts still loose. and THEN tighten them.

I adjusted toe to about 1/16" IN and will get it aligned shortly.

The difference is really significant. Of course I am also comparing it to 89900 mile old OEM control arms. I love love love this mod. Really makes the car feel alive.

Also changed the oil BWM oil and filter.

I also found surface rust on the oil pan. I sanded it, cleaned with mineral spirits and painted the oil pan to stop future rust.

Have I told you I love this car????

They add a bit of camber as well which really tightens up the front. If you haven't done the differential brace I highly recommend one. It tightened up the rear equally as much and doesn't add much of any NVH. Worth the $150.

Thanks! It is a great car.

I bought a Berk Street that is from the resonator back.

It needs to be cut and mated to the 128 exhaust just ahead of the rear axle.

You use a stainless reducer and some band clamps. Or you have a shop cut and install.

Sounds great. Not obnoxious to live with. Track car I'd go louder....

Thanks man

I've a good shop to take care of conversion.
Only thing is that the exhaust setup and shape is compatible except pipes size. It will go right after the resonator. I will keep the resonator.
Or we can just get rid of muffler...I'm just trying to keep the cost minimum. Already spent a lot to buy track car
I'm most probably going for muffler delete and maybe secondary cats too (I've pipes from my 328i).

Exactly....the location of the berk pipes is near identical from just behind the axle to the flange on the 135 behind the reso's.

Berk makes a race version you might like. Someone was selling one not too long ago here.

FRM footwell module replaced. BMW extended warranty to 10 from 8 years.
PCV heater recall done.
Heater wiring harness recall done.

B+ cable recall was done in 2013 when car was 2 years old. Symptoms are I am having now are identical to recall back then.

So they are going to pull B+ cable and fuse box and inspect and if corroded do it again along with a fuse box. Probably on my dime.

But can't have the car shutting off and losing power.

Looking forward to the new M3 control arms with proper alignment.

Got car back from dealer and had three warranty items done. Blower motor wiring, PCV heater AND the B+ and fuse panel.

Turns out it was "done" in 2013 but not done. When they got into it they found original parts and not the recall parts. BMW stepped up and handled it in my favor and I was very impressed.

Also had a OFHG gasket done and an alignment done for the M3 arms.

I do love the M3 control arms. Nicely weighted and no more slop.

Berk street cut just before the rear axles and mated to the OEM 2.5 inch system with a reducer.

Ventilated airbox adds to some of the sound.

The entire flat part of the front of the airbox closest to the fender is all gone.

Working on making it easily removable so you can go back to closed at any moment.

Watching Intake Air Temp (IAT) and Ambient Temp there is only 3-5 degrees difference when you are rolling.

Temps soar when you are stopped but drop very quickly once underway.

It's the older 2-door BMW's that have the soul. The BMW 128i has it and does my other ride, my BMW e21.

Removed my cabin air filter and installed my Burger Motorsports Cabin air filters.

Easier to keep the leaves and pine tags out with them installed.

Pulled the headlight switch and cut the 4 tabs off so now I have rear fogs. Bright!!!

I'll be damed if I can pull the vent surround above the headlight switch without bending it half way up on the inside edge. Never gotten one off by simply lifting.
