Really appreciate all the info in this thread. Hope this isn't a dumb question, but is 613 the final number for the IS coupes? Are they officially done? Thanks again.

Owen,check this post

I am still checking to see if any new VINS pop up. Not so far since around October 10 or so.

I find it kind of odd that BMW shut down their 1er market segment until the first quarter of 2014 when the new 2 series comes out.

I think this chart was supposed to read convertibles for Canada. Is there similar chart for Canadian coupes?

I'm disappointed by how many people bought auto's compared to manuals. At least the manuals will be worth more.

Well, it may not be fair to just look at the total numbers since most the cars on dealer lots that were not customer ordered cars are almost all going to be DCT. Dealers just don't order or get many manuals these days. So, I think if you looked at the percentage of people who ordered their 135is's, I bet the vast majority, maybe 75-80% would be in 6MT, if not more. Overall, 41.1% of IS coupes being stick seems like a high number which suggests that most were ordered cars.

Also, we don't know how many of the IS coupes were actually bought at this point, as there are still tons at dealers (almost all in DCT), and we've seen some cars sit for 6-8 months.

Its also hard to search, as most places don't have the "is" listing coded in. So you'll see stuff like this:

Ya, I would do searches and use the advanced thing to add in "135is" which did a good job on coupes, though still never seen a titanium silver one. =(

Sadly, a local dealer near me still has 4 IS coupes, including the infamous cashmere silver one with black leather and blue stitching which is a bit of a nasty combo? I don't think ANYBODY is ever going to buy it. I feel bad for that car.

My cars have all been manuals, will probably remain that way until I'm old and my left knee is made of mush...just kidding, I'll get a bionic one. 6MT forever!

That said, I do want to drive a 135is with a DCT, and I also want to drive an E46 M3 with an SMG, just to see how it is. I've heard the SMG takes a bit of learning.

Alright, you can drive my DCT and I'll destroy, I mean, drive your manual. =) I don't think you'd like the SMG as I've never heard a single person ever say they liked it or thought it was good, and I was seriously considering getting an E46 M3, even as a second car in addition to the IS. Go listen to the exhaust on that M3 though and it sounds awful, stock, or even with aftermarket exhausts - sounds completely tinny and bleh. Or, our cars have just ruined the exhaust sound for all future cars we see/hear.

Only manual I've ever had was 2 years ago I bought a pristine '91 300ZX Twin Turbo in Pearl White, as it was on my bucket list and thought it'd make a nice addition to my stable. Was only able to drive it for a couple of months (put 500 miles total on it) though before destroying my wrist and no more manuals for me and had to sell the car. So, for me, the choice is always easy cause I have no choice.

After 4000+ miles now with the DCT, I'd have to give the nod to the 6mt. That being said, I still enjoy 'auto' driving as a more relaxing experience.

Thanks BP. I have 1 of only 2 6MT Lemans blue M-Sport Editions in Canada. I know the other one is owned by MightyMouseTech in Ottawa. Interesting because my dealer got it from a dealer in Ottawa. I wonder if the same dealer ordered both of them?

I too have driven MT for many years 100Kish miles to be exact ... But once you go with a DCT you never go back. You get the best of both worlds! Your manual DCT's shifts, whether up once or down three times, is instantaneous. Truly a remarkable piece of engineering and light years ahead of BMW steptronic's slosh box.. You DCT bashers out there... do not know what you guys are missing. I'd go with a DCT over any MT any day and I'd be faster too...

Sadly, on this car it was a good deal, too. In 2008, the steptronic auto was a $1450 option, whereas this go around, the DCT was only $450?! For whatever reason, perhaps for cost reasons, the 2-series won't have a DCT. If they made a 1M in a DCT I'd have gotten one back in the day. Alas...
