GC Street plates vs Full needle bearing camber plates

Has anyone used both? New setup is great but a bit harsh with the potholes here. Looking for comparison on rough surface NVH between the GC street camber plates and a full needle bearing race plate a la vorschlag TCK GC Race YCW etc

Anyone with GC street plates and coilovers with 2.5" linear springs?

I've run two cars with Vorshlag camber plates up front, both E36 based cars.

One was set up to be sporty but compliant, my old Z3 coupe. I never ran GC street plates but the car originally had SPC camber plates when I bought it, which were a similar style where the bearing was encased in urethane.

I couldn't stand those mounts, the urethane wore down and caused a loud clicking noise. I actually swapped those out for stock E36 M3 rubber mounts swapped side-to-side.

Later I installed vorshlag plates on the Z3 and I would say going from "stock" rubber to the spherical was the equivalent of going from a 17" wheel/tire to and 18" wheel/tire. There was definitely more NVH felt through the front end. I never had any issues with the Vorshlag plates though, they use a big bearing and it never clicked or clunked or anything.

That being said, the E82 chassis feels so much stiffer and more planted than either of my E36 or Z3. It really surprised me how much better this car handles crappy roads. I tend to think that adding spherical camber plates wouldn't be as much of a difference with this chassis.

I have solid camber plates now and am in no way interested in vorschlag. Not sure how GC will compare to the SPC plate you had but I thank you for sharing your experience as it will guide my conversation with Ground Control.

Definitely not trying to sell you on vorshlag plates, just trying to give a comparison between the three styles I have experience with. What plates do you have now?

Currently, my 128i has dinan camber plates with stock upper mounts, koni yellows, e36 m3 bumpstops, eibach springs, and 225/45-17 tires. I really enjoy the way the car handles rough pavement yet is still a firm and sporty ride. Each part of the suspensions plays a role.

The problem is NVH is subjective to the person driving the car. It's frustrating having to buy parts, install, and determine if that's an improvement or not. I'm sure street plates will soften the NVH a bit, just won't know if it's enough until you try it.

I've had both the ground control race plates and street plates on a 2.25" spring with JRZ struts. No difference in noise that I could tell, or difference in how the car felt iirc though it's been 5 years since I had that setup so I might be forgetting some details (I wish I still had that setup!!!). The bearing on the race plates will wear out eventually at which point you will hear noise, they can be rebuilt though. The camber plate won't make any difference in how the car rides over bumps, that's entirely up to springs/dampers and control arm bushings you have (M3, monoball, or stock). If the roads are bad I'd just recommend their street plate over race, that way you won't have to deal with rebuilding the plates when the bearing goes.

Using YCW currently with their damper valved for 6k 2.5" swift spring. Damper and spring action is really nice but the plate is transferring a little much to the chassis. Want to dial it down like 10-25% which has me thinking the street plate with built in isolator should help.

Obviously not a ton since the M bearings have been added everywhere indicated per bmw

That's what a poly bushing would be to me.

Oh ok. Well from experience with the same coilover setup on both the ground control street and race plates, I couldn't tell the difference in NVH. How are the YCW coilovers btw?

Now that I'm getting them dialed in, they're pretty awesome. Had an issue withy sway bar contacting subframe so waiting on a new set of end links from them.
