We will have a step by step photos for those who are not local on how to do it. Maybe I can have them do it this weekend to my car just to show those who are not local to get an install.

It looks like **********s only carries the black version of the Depo projectors. What about the "grey" version that matches the look of the OE halogen and HID lights? Also, it looks like the minimum Kelvin rating of their HID offerings is 6000k; what about something closer to OE, which is in the 4200k-4300k range? Finally, looking on their site, it looks like they already offer a HID and LED AE retrofit, no??

Yeah the bumper can be a real pain to take off and put back on.

The black one will be the one offered in the conversion. As to what Kelvin rating will be offered, we should have a full range for the HIDs. I will ask exactly what temps will be offered. Note: this isn't a **********s group buy. **********s does offer the depo headlights with led angel eyes, but if you look at fellow member's who have this, its only four bulbs per AE and creates a blobbing effect. Secondly the HID that is optionally pre-installed is where many have gotten their bulb out warnings from. Hence why we are offering a full upgrade for both the Angel Eyes and HIDs.

Dunno the options yet but I want that completed conversion!

It will be under ~1000$ for a complete look-a-like plug and play similar to yours?
Sorry missed this question at the bottom. Yes, it will be complete plug and play. So for those who don't live in California to get them installed, all you have to do is unplug your stock halogens, and then replace them with the converted ones. And that's all you will need to do!

I don't believe **********s offers the LED Angel upgrade. They do, however, offer the HID upgrade for the basic lights. If you don't want 6000k rating which runs "white" the stock DEPO's do run at a stock halogen color. Im sure that Sam could get you an upgraded LED that has the lower temp.

I believe these are the photos of the stock lighting that comes with the DEPO's without any upgrade. You might want to consider upgrading to the 4300k temp at 35W for a much brighter Halogen color look.

Correct me if I am wrong as I am new to light terms

Very helpful info, indeed. Glad I'm asking these questions here so everyone can see them! So only the blackout version, huh? I was hoping to be able to maintain a more OE appearance. Any chance on the "grey" version??

Well as of now only the black depo ones. But anything is possible if you wanted to have it repainted lol. Yes please ask more questions as it will help us cater to the customer's wants.

Maybe it's not known, but Depo actually makes a version that has grey innards as opposed to the black ones being discussed in this thread. Check out the first set of lights at the link below. The black version are down further on the page for comparison purposes.

I have seen those before as I looked into them before we started my conversion. However we are trying to be as cost effective as possible, so we will be sticking with the black ones. However if you wanted to purchase those and send them our way for the upgrades, feel free to do so.

20-30 minutes if you know what your doing

I believe that some of the people on this forum (including myself) have never performed a bumper procedure on a 1er. We probably would need a step by step guide to locations of screws and what not in order to wedge out the lights [not take off bumper completely].

I believe they come stock like the color in my post with pictures. You could always upgrade to more wattage to get a brighter OE look.

Question on the lights though Sam. The entire conversion would include high/low beam HID + angel HID rings? And you said that you absolutely need a group buy of 10 in order to get the ball rolling? Or could you do a couple if 10 people do not sign up?

Hey E90sexion, I hear you on that one. I get the feeling that more people want an OE feel from these, but better I originally wanted 6000k (white) but I really liked the slight blue tint(plasma white) to my cuzin's acura tsx when I used to drive it, so opted for their recommended 8500k, and have to say I am quite pleased. I will find out tomorrow on the kelvin temps.

We shall try to get the step by step soon. As for the conversion, having HID high beams is kinda pointless since you hardly use them. The conversion would include: New depo projector headlights, HID low beams, and LED Angel Eye Rings. We would like to see ten, as that would help lessen the price, but if all else falls through, we could still do those that were interested.

I think there may be some confusion here. The Kelvin ratings I was talking about are in reference to the color of the HID low beams, not the AEs. I would want a HID Kelvin rating similar to OEM; i.e., in the 4200K-4300K range. As Sam mentioned above, I'm definitely looking for a very OE-type appearance to the lights and the Kelvin rating of the HIDs will affect that. If I could somehow justify the cost of adding the OE HIDs to my car, I would do it in a heartbeat. Heck, I've done it on several cars, but for a far more reasonable cost than what it would take to do the same on the 1er. And, then you have to have the car coded too, further complicating it!

The Schmiedmann headlights are just depo hlīs in silver.

BTW, are the angel eyes avaible in different colors, or just in this blueish look?

Do the angel eyes appear white or blue? Hard to tell from pics as one appear white and the other pic blue due to white balance.
