Replaced my 1M, very tough decision!

Last week I traded the 1M that I've owned since new, and it wasn't an easy decision. I came across a 1,7xx miles Cayman GT4 and decided to pull the trigger. The 1M was my daily, but the GT4 is just a bit too hardcore for everyday use. The ride really isn't much firmer than the 1M, but the ground clearance, lack of adequate luggage space, and generally desire to keep it as nice as possible made me reconsider. I ended up buying a VW Tiguan a few days after getting the Cayman, and I've never owned an SUV or crossover, and I'm actually kind of enjoying having a beater with lots of space and clearance.

A fair amount has been written on this forum comparing the cars, so I won't bore everyone with that unless there are some specific questions for me. I admit to having seller's remorse, and wish that I had the space, and money, to keep the 1M. I did Euro delivery on it and saw quite a few countries from the seat. Even my girlfriend, who shared a lot of adventures in that car, and had a few road trips of her own in it, was a little emotional when I told her it was gone.

Well, you got yourself the one car I think many of us would be happy to own after a 1M.

Congratulations

congrats. I had my black 1M and a Blue GT4 at the sametime... but since i have a baby coming in November, we got rid of the GT4. harder decision. it still pains me. however, the 1M is still in the garage.

I did the same thing...just bought a 2004 Land Cruiser to have a SUV beater. I actually drive that more than anything. Odd how that happens. Enjoy them both!!!

thanks for the honest comments.. I've been watching the M2 since the release.. but as time goes on.. I only become more and more disenchanted with all the electric gadgets on it that are un-needed by me.

I was hoping and planning to trade my 1M for an M2 CSL/GTS... but as it sits now.. the currently rumored M2 CS just doesn't seem to be hardcore enough.. my 1M is a weekend and track car.. and something like an M2 GTS or a Cayman GT4 would be the only items I would trade for.

Like you.. I did Euro delivery.. and while my EX wife that went on that trip is gone.. my GF loves the 1M more than my EX... and she hopes that I don't trade it... ever..

Congrats!! You can't go wrong with a GT4. I have enjoyed her somewhat related sister, but financial powers eventually led me to sell her...actually ships today. It sold for a significant premium (commanding even more than GT4s with its CF buckets), and I only put 1400 miles on it the first year. Purchased a 987.2 Spyder to replace it so less money is tied up in a limited use car. That said, I am still very sad...the 981 Spyder was spectacular, and you will love your Cayman. You are a brave man to be able to part with the 1M..I just can't (ED experience too).

congrats to the GT4, love that and the 981 Spyder, If I'm gonna trade anything in, it would be my 911 for the 981 Spyder or GT4,
