Paddle shifters don't work

I bought a 135is w/ DCT from a dealer and the morons installed 6AT steptronic paddle shifters on it because the stock shifters had the chrome trim peeling off. These paddles did nothing, neither one would upshift or downshift.

So I removed the steptronic paddles and replaced them with M3 DCT paddles that I had from my 335i. These paddles had 2 wires in the 3-pin conenctor in positions 2 and 3. So I moved the wire in position 2 to position 1 to match the paddles that were supposed to come on this car. Well no dice, they still don't work.

Is these something about this car that makes neither steptronic nor the M3 paddles work?

Did some digging, looks like I need to add resistors, or just go back to the OEM shifters which I don't mind.

I think F30 paddles work as well.

Just thinking out load, if nothing you try works, they may need to be coded. They can be removed during certain trans flashes and stuff.

I put the stock LCI/DCT paddles back in and they work fine. Looking for replacement set because the chrome trim is peeling off badly.
