Performance muffler 128i - suggestions
I've been looking for a bmw Performance muffler for my 128i for a few years now without any luck. It's like they disappeared from the market.
So any other plug and play suggestions that could also sound nice and not require a whole lot of work done? Thanks |

Depends what you're looking for. You can also just get a 135 muffler, remove the vacuum actuator and swap the midsection ...lots of options / variants people have done. I'm sure there are other systems, Borla etc... |

Hey, just going to throw it out there incase you go to a custom shop and get an exhaust made. I bought my 128i with a custom 2.5” or 3” (I haven’t actually measured yet) exhaust that still has stock headers and only has a flow master muffler in the rear section; it is pretty loud, but doesn’t really drone. So if you don’t mind a louder exhaust it sounds pretty good, especially on down shifts when it makes the occasional pop and in my opinion sounds pretty good under heavy acceleration. Generally, it sounds much better than any of the 328i’s I have heard ripping around straight piped.

Magnaflow #16525 cat-back. Best price I found was $975 CDN all-in to my door. That was through hottexhaust, with a discount code.
Install is easy...I did mine on jackstands. First impression: Fit and finish are good, sound is deep, but mellow. No drone. |

Most “performance shops” will be able to do it or refer you to a shop that will, but if you can’t find something and decide to buy a bolt on kit call up or email JRP in Mississauga. JRP is the Canadian distributor for most parts they carry and they generally will price match any US price (converted to Canadian dollars) you find and they ship Canada wide. I literally buy all my parts there (if they carry them) and the guys working the retail side know their car stuff pretty good. Just a heads up, their website is terrible for the average customer looking to make a retail purchase, but don’t let it scare you off.

It's not Montreal, but Lachute Performance might be able to help you out. I've had really great experiences with them dealing with Subaru stuff a few years back.
