Hard to say because the technical specifications and pricing for the 1M are still guesswork at this point. But based on the best guesses (330-340HP N54 engine, $45-47k base US MSRP) and the visual and suspension upgrades, is it worth it for you?

You won't get a unanimous answer on the forum, it just comes down to your situation. Do you need a car right now or can you wait? Is it worth the extra money for the 1M over the 135? Are you willing to play the "limited production" game?

The thing that I would point out is if you hold out for a 1M and either can't get one or change your mind and decide it's not worth it, you can always get a 135 in a few months. Not so much the other way around unless you're willing to take a major financial hit.

I am pleased to finally announce that selected journalists have gotten behind the wheel of the BMW 1M Coupe and you will be finding their first drive reports in a final prototype model appear early next week.

I'm facing a similar decision. I have a 335xi now and plan to go down a size (and back to rear-wheel drive) and get a 1-series. I'm intrigued by the 1M and have put down a refundable deposit, but still undecided about whether it will be worth it (not thrilled with the colors, the engine may not be much of an upgrade, and am concerned it might wind up looking a little boy-racerish). I'm waiting to learn more about it, and the upcoming prototype test drives might help. If I decide not to, I'll just get a 1 for less money. Don't think I can go wrong either way. May not decide until its time to put in the order.

You see Baudouin Denis, General Manager Marketing BMW France. He unveiled the car, because the unveiling took place in France.

And, sorry, the car is not on it's way to the UK.

All good point Spider and I guess as you say I can always get a 135 and I am not in a hurry to get a car, so it makes sense for me to wait and see. This does look like a very cool car.

So they are already taking deposits for it? I am sure dealers are eager to get this hyped up and enjoy some more pricing power. Does the deposit guarantee you access to one?

Look forward to the review. 1M coupe is looking good. The curves so much reminds of the E46 M3. Loving it.
