Adaptive Headlight Errors
I assume i have made the classic mistake of not completely sealing the headlight assembly as i took the car to the car wash and now my passenger side headlight will not turn on, and dash says low beam failure + Adaptive headlight error. After reading several articles most people suggest to take it to the dealer but after a new motor and transmission within a week of buying the car + several thousands in other repairs, has anyone found a solution for this?
Looking at buying a new D1S bulb and coding the adaptive headlight out with NCSExpert but not sure if that will solve problem, looking for tips. Thanks! Last edited by Goldshark; 11-10-2019 at 01:26 AM.. |

I'd try swapping the bulbs first to see if the ballast is still okay. Then you can code out 524 from the VO.
Otherwise you may need more hardware too.

I've fixed my adaptive headlights twice and both times it's been part #17 that was the culprit. Taking the headlight out is not a difficult job , just tedious and time consuming. Once you get the electronic control box off it should be quite evident that it's corroded inside . With one I was able to clean it up and that fixed the error. With another I replaced it from a donor broken headlight. No coding required either time. |

I know the bulb worked fine yesterday but i figured i will need one of those, i will have to take the assembly apart this week and look at it. Hopefully can be a cheap fix

Found some aftermarket headlights: https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-2007-20...cAAOSwXzBdwUVq
Do aftermarket headlights plug in and work? or what adapters would i need to transition to aftermarket headlights? i feel this is cheaper than repairing xenon factory headlights with the adaptive headlight modules. |

Update!
Update on the headlight problem, I have replaced Adaptive Control module, Ballast, Wire from ballast to D1S bulb, All bulbs in assembly. When i plug them in it STILL says adaptive headlight error, Left turn signal error, and Headlights still do not come on, only the halos. Looking for help as i cannot afford whole new assemblies. Have also checked fuses and all fuses are good.

I wonder if this is an FRM issue.

I'm going to try changing the ballast I'm thinking that should fix it as I had the other headlight replaced and it through up the same errors when that ballast failed.

Update!
300-400 dollars later still cant figure out why headlights won't turn on, BMW mentioned the warranty for FRM module expired and the warranty i have on the car is SUPPOSE to cover this stuff, i guess specifically excludes any problems with these headlight assemblies. Only fix i have found for now is i attached several light bars to the front of the car as i travel to and from work in the dark so had to make do.

Replace the adaptive headlight module.
Those fixed my problems. While the headlights were out, I had it sealed all around. You may want to have your lights coded after as they may not turn in the right direction. |
