Open Track Day: Speed District - May 4, 2012 @ Willow Springs Raceway (Road Course)

When: Friday, May 4, 2012
Where: Willow Springs Raceway (Road Course)
Racing from: 8am-5pm
Drivers Meeting: 7:30am (Sharp) Try and get there before!
Participates Accepted: 50

Your run group goes on once a hour, you should be literally getting two track days in one. All the cars around you are high end automobiles, and the owners do not want to scratch/damage their cars just as you don't want to. The incredible opportunity to receive private driving instruction from our professional drivers (Mike Bonanni/Jordan Yost) will be available on the registration page. If you're a beginner on the track, they will jump in the car with you, teach you the proper breaking points, teach you the line and assist with issues/questions/help/etc you may need;they are there for you. Even if you are a professional and just need to shave some lab time off, they are able to provide very useful advice as they do this for a living. Of course just like all the other events SD hosts, we will include a photo CD ($65 value). You can see your car in action and receive some AWESOME pictures of your car on the track. (Examples: Click here)

Reserve your spot before they are all sold!
Event Registration: http://speeddistrict.com/item/events...low-on-may-4th

Most of our members are from BimmerPost! You are guaranteed to have a blast! Whether you are a beginner or a professional driver, our events are for you. This event is properly spaced out and broken down into different run groups (by skill), so you will feel at ease on the track. You'll be safe and surrounded by good company.

What tires are you going to be running? I'm really curious as to what a 1M will run around that track.

I am only going Saturday, I am on fresh RS3's as well so I'm super excited to see what I can do. I'm shooting for 1:37ish. I've only been on big willow once as well, ran a 1:41.5 (V12's) I think? I know I had a 1:40 in me but I had to skip the 5th session which had me pissed all the way home! Let me know what speed your holding through 8, I'm going to try and stay flat through there and see if the car sticks, maybe a slight lift to get the thing turned in. I also think I left a ton of time at the bottom of the Omega, get the speeds up at the back straight.

Are you going Saturday as well?!? It'd be awesome to run together.

I found this hugely helpful for turn 9, he kind of comes in slightly mid-track and as he brakes lets the car run to the outside, definitely helpful to keep from turning in too early.

I was running low 1'40s" when the track dried out.

Coming out of the Omega it's easy to carry a lot of speed, but I think you have to brake a little early and sacrifice the speed at the end of the short straight in order to get on the gas early out of 5 so that you get a good long run up to the entry of 8. Last time I was there I was overcooking it going into 5 and braking rather late which set up a lot of drama and understeer up through 6.

Anyway, have fun on Sat!
You'll forsure be in the 1.30's! Make sure to update this thread with what your quickest lap is, I'd love to know! Goodluck man, next time I get out to the track will definitely be speed district.

I'm trying to go sub 1.30! If I can't make it happen, I'm sure Jordan will.

Hey Josh, I met you at the last Supercar Sunday, I'm sure you and that beast of yours have a sub 1.30 in it! Let me know how it went when you get home!

Sweet!! Great time! I ended up running a fast lap of 1.36.9, was consistently low 1.37's. I corded my drivers front RS3 that I put on the car a week and a half ago

The times for you guys were still on the wall today. It looked like Josh was right at 1.35 flat, did you dip under that??

Nice, great times guys!

I've only been to Big Willow once and only ran a 1:41 on the crappy run flats. Would be nice to see what time I'd get with RS3's and methanol lol.

My friend with an FBO 1M ran a 2:03-2:05ish I think. Can't remember for sure. So if your stock then maybe 2:05-2:12?
