Sedona Red

The 135 under wraps for the unveiling...the tease is being drawn out.

BMW coverage coming up right now Live on Eyewitness News ABC 7 Los Angeles.

I see a white M3 Coupe in the background.

Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro concept: Audi targets 1 Series

Audi Cross Cabriolet quattro concept: Audi targets 1 Series

What you're looking at is the next Audi A3, a 1 Series-fighter. Like the 1 Series, it serves as insurance against stricter fuel mileage and C02 standards while expanding on the current A3 lineup and allowing the new A4 -- which grows in size and luxury -- to get pricier. These cars serve as "entry-level" luxury brand cars in the U.S., which means a base price just under $30,000, a bargain compared with what they cost in Europe.

Like the old A3, the Cross Cabriolet and Metroproject concepts are better suited for the European market, but automakers like Audi and BMW see an opportunity to fill the premium small car slot between Mini and A4/3 Series with cars like this, while pushing those 3 Series-size cars upmarket. I've heard of at least one 3 Series buyer looking at a low-spec 335i coupe because he figures the 1 Series screams "cheaper BMW," so this small premium car strategy is working.

The Cross Cab is shown with a full-time quattro system and electronic ride adjustment. Audi says it has the dimensions of a b-segment car with SUV-like ride height. At 181.2 inches long and 75.2 inches wide, it's not a Mini-size mini, though. Overall height is 64.2 inches, on the low side of small crossover ride heights.

Maybe. Or perhaps they took their styling cues from a 40-year-old design, just like the 1er...
