Our 1M
Thought I would create my own Post for our car, from boat to delivery...
Anyway here is the first shot, you can't see it but you know it is in there (I hope). I will add shots as they come up ((hopefully one later today of the car on the dock (fingers crossed))... |

The race is on. Who will be the first? I had a strong chance until mine sat out in the harbour for 2 days waiting for the log-jam of ships to clear from Brisbane port. Dealer is saying the 31st or thereabouts for handover. Personally I don't like all the attention it seems I will be getting, I would just like to slip quietly out the dealership and be on my way.
Talked to my indy service guy who is a BMW specialist about run in. Now I don't want to start up with running in proceedures. That's been flogged and there are too many contentious opinions. But, one thing is especially important. Don't let a new engine idle. Once you start it put it under load. Even after run in avoid idling where possible when cold. So, when the delivery guy is going over the car with you don't sit there for 10 mins chatting over stuff you already know with the engine idling. That's all I will say. |

I am not after attention but figure there a few guys here that, like me, have been waiting soooo long to see a one that this is the best and first chance given the drip feed of cars into the country. I was VERY fortunate to see both a 1M and the Moto GP car last month and as such feel for those wanting to see and sit in one. Though I will say this, you're not getting a drive . Mr Way will be THE first to drop the clutch and have a drive, after that I think the Mrs will pocket the keys to HER car and no one else will have a chance of a drive. Timing, we are not too fussed about dates at this stage, getting a couple of things done at the dealer that will prolly delay delivery, as well there may be a Southern BM visit on the cards too! Just spoke to our sales guru, he said our car is in Prixarx (apparently that is Customs) where it will be for 7 to 10 working days then off to the dealer, through the workshop for a day then off to the spray shop for some matt black paintwork to the side repeaters and the wheels.
Tentaively we are aiming for Friday the 10th of June delivery (long weekend). BMW Melbourne also want to do some kind of marketing thing for the car as well.... whatever that means.... |

John, I am going to apologise in advanced, but the moment your car hits BMW Melbourne, I am going over to have a look. Usually I don't do that to my friends' cars (viewing it before them), but in this case I really can't resist it as I would really like to see one in the flesh.

Really excited for you Alpine! Been a long time coming!
Way, I'm sure he won't mind - as long as you don't talk them into letting you take it for a quick spin! |

I am starting to feel a bit upset really. After all this is Mrs Alpine's car not mine, she'll be the one driving everyday.... Not Moir! |

Definitely give her the M3 - with the reviews - she'll probably be safer in the M3 while resist the urge to drive to work sideways!
