did you try the ALL mode when the car is at full temperature?

this works on the e90s

at this point i would contact the BMW dealer and BMW NA, because there arent that many '10 owners that have gotten around to using the REST feature or figuring it out

I haven't tried at full operating temp. I will maybe later on tonight, If not i will definitely find out if it is still available on the 1er. I still don't think it's on the 1er, otherwise it would've been in the manual....

I just drove the car out for 10 minutes got the temperature of the engine up to 200. Drove it back home
Turned off the car to where the only thing lighten up was the Idrive screen, Held down ALL For a few seconds and nothing happened. turned car all the way off, removed the key tried it again, nothing. I'm really not sure, Anyone else with a 2010 tried this yet?
What was the outside temperature when you were testing this? I think the Rest function only works below a certain temp, but I'm not sure exactly what it is.

If it's going to work, it should do so at that temperature. Was the car fully warmed up when you tried it? Or did you just let it run for a few minutes first?

This thing pulls heat from the engine, and it will turn off once that drops below a certain temperature. I'm not sure how long the car has to have been running before there's enough heat built up for it to work though.

Anytime I've ever used it the car has been driven for a while first.

Been trying various things with the heating controls and this function doesn't appear to be there on my 2010...

Unhappy 2011 REST?

My 2011 should arrive here soon. I'll really miss the REST feature from my 2008 328xi if it's not in the 2011 135i. My salesman knew less than me about the 2011 car, so I'm not even going to ask him. Please post here if you find out anything more- i.e. "secret" control combinations that activate REST or similar feature.
Thanks!

In my '08 128i, it's covered in the manual under "Residual Heat". In the 2011 manual (downloaded as a pdf from BMWUSA.com), there is no mention of residual heat that I can find - so I assume it's no longer available.

But look at it this way, the value package saves about $1,800 over pre-2010 models, so something had to give.

At any rate, enjoy your new 135i.

Tom

The end of the REST saga!

Hi guys, I found a way to activate the function (switch the ALL button function from ALL to REST) and it really works, same as in 2007-2009.

You need to do some coding (1 actual software switch) or ask someone to do it for you, its the same way you can do many useful functions like corner light delete, open/close sunroof and windows with keyfob etc.

See my thread and details at e90post here: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=497347
