BMW 0w40 Oil
So BMW lists a 0-40 weight twin power oil on their website: http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/acc...motoren%C3%B6l
I've tried almost every single dealer in the Chicagoland area and every single one of them treats me like I'm an idiot and informs me BMW only sells a 5-30 oil. To which I have to then inform them their own website lists a 0-40 and then every single one goes, "Oh, I had no idea. Well we can't get it" So has anyone else tried getting this oil? Has anyone had success getting this oil? The only other oil I'm considering is PP Euro 5-40 but I can't find individual bottles anywhere and amazon only has it in packs of 6.

Don't know if Castrol is still the recommended oil for BMW but you couldn't go wrong with their 0-40 Syntec (or whatever they call it now) made in Belgium. Very similar to their very well known 0-30 German Castrol. Both true Group 4 synthetics.

Go to Walmart and get 5w-40 castrol ll-01 European formula oil. It's $25 for 5 quarts and is bmw approved.

Shell won the contract to supply BMW oils over Castrol, so they are now "the official supplier". Doesn't make the Shell oil any better, just the lowest bidder. I would still prefer Castrol 0w-40 over Shell's product.
