Track/AX Q- how many wheels can you carry in your car?

Long time listener, first time caller:

Sold my 996 track car. Picking up a 135i to play with. Hoping to be able to fit wheels in the back for the track (let’s say staggered 245/255 ish)

Can you fit 4 track wheels inside your 135?

Easily. I fit (barely) 4x 255-35-18 RE71Rs all in a row across my back seat folded down, leaving the entire trunk and front passenger seat for other gear/tools. If you were going wider than 255s, you might only get 3 and then would have to throw one in the trunk.

I have fit 275/35/18s 4-across without issue, with the rear seats folded down. Be sure to use a tie-down strap to keep them from rolling forward under braking.

Four in the interior and trackbox and other tools and luggage in the trunk.

There is another thread on this somewhere but I will add photos for this one as well.

Tires can be stacked upright - like a life saver roll however will need to be tethered so as not to roll forward.

I prefer to lay them down and then scoot the front seats back so the seatback is snug. On the passenger side I even lean the upper part of the seat back as well as the top tires have more room to move due to seat contours.

Tires and wheels shown are Apex 18x 10 with 285/30/18 BF Goodrich R1. 275/35 tires work of course as well.

Having tire totes really helps keep the seat clean and also allows for snug fitment.

I know people who do. I have roll cage so no go. So sometimes in the passenger seat wrapped in big moving blanket but only for nearby tracks. Or a roof rack which also works for #3 and #4 wheels/tires.

Ditto what M3 Adjuster said. They also fit standing upright. Track days coming soon!
