Tyre manufacturers allow up to 225/45-17 on a 7" rim (front OEM width) and 235/45-17 or 245/45-17 on a 7.5" rim (rear OEM width), but both of these sizes are taller than stock; 245/40-17 is the right diameter but requires a minimum 8" wide rim.

I'm in the same situation thinking about 225/45 Fr & 245/40 rear, will the 225 rub the front fender ?
