E8x LED Reverse Light Upgrade... super bright!
My cousin just upgraded my reverse lights to LEDs in my 2009 E82.
Plug and Play and no error. Easy to fit in a few minutes each side.... results are awesome, visibility when reversing in the dark has improved dramatically plus looks really cool in white. The photos don't do it justice but I'd say they are at least 4 x as much light though he is yet to measure exactly. They are doing a group buy for more over at E9x if anyone here is interested. The guy is really knowledgeable, check it out: http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1206824 See comparison shot on high shutter speed: Normal shutter speed, crappy camera phone: Finished Product High Shutter Speed: |

Pardon my ignorance, but what's the point of this mod rather than the obvious?

It is not really an aesthetic mod as you don't drive around much with your reverse lights on.
However, the light is much much brighter and great for reversing in the dark. You can see well across the street. I think it also looks really good and you will get a bit of a laugh at the brightness first time you test it out. It is really quite an amazing difference. I think more noticeable on the E82 compared with my E91. PM me your email address if you're interested as I'm organizing the group buy. |

It will be more useful to some than others, but personally it definitely makes a difference for my visibility when reversing out of my driveway at night

I'm not familiar with the blackline, are they OEM? I assume they are the same as normal E82 LCI which looks to me like the W16W T15 type Option 2.
http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E8...ng/rear_light/ Easiest way to be certain is to, pop the boot, pull the flap in your boot and unclick the tail light assembly & it slides out. Have a look or email me a photo. The special Option 3 light for E92/92 LCI is shown at B in the following diagram: http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/E9...ng/rear_light/ I don't think E8Xs have this by the looks of things but someone can double check if they can. Great work!
It is the W16W T15 type Option 2. http://www.osram.com/media/resource/...875/921-ll.jpg Same as Tj303s. So all good to go. |

Did these a couple of weeks ago:
JDM ASTAR 800 lumens Extremely Bright Error Free 921 912 PX Chipsets LED Bulbs For Backup Reverse Lights, Xenon White (from amazon) Functional upgrade; very bright (brighter than stock) and much more light to the sides. Really helps backing down my alley!
