There's nothing like advice from someone who's already done it...

Great point; how do you know if something else popped up if the CEL is already on...

Thanks very much and BTW, great write-ups on both the manifold and header install...

Yup, not a problem.

It is amusing how many lurkers out there have SS headers and Evolve tuning now. I get 3-5 PMs a week from people buying them who never post.

lol. Way to go St|g. You're the one that took the leap of faith and was successful, so now you're the pioneer in these mods! You should get some commission, you know what I mean?

Yup. All the major mods I've written about, and the N52 1er in general. I was just highlighting how many are doing these mods that isn't apparent on the surface of looking at the forums.

I just want people to people to have nice things, and support the businesses that take the risk to make it possible. This Walmart economy we live in where people value having a bunch of things instead of a few nice things aggravates me to no end. Everything has become about the numbers instead of the experience.

Both Turner and BavAuto say you have to live with the CEL when you do the headers...what did you guys do, or are you just living with it?
From what I've read and learned so far:

-Evolve is the only one who turns down 02's and does not turn them off, if you would magically get a CEL with their tune you send them a screen shot after you've diagnosed the code and they fix it.

-Evolve has lots more experience with the DISA manifold and adjusting the valves to get the most power.

-Evolve uses a Siemens tool, same brand as our ECU. Seems like they are just much more detailed in their tunes and analysis.

Shipping any type of electronics you have to use an anti static bag, pray it doesn't get slammed around, or lost.

Soounds delicious.
How much louder is it in real life? Will neigbours get a new alarm clock? PE is more open and I always cringed at e90 videos with headers + e90 PE( which deletes resonator i think) + maybe no secondaries

I'll have some better videos up soon, just took that one to test out the video on my new phone. It's a little louder in person, but not much. Still has resonators and 200 Cel cats in the mid pipe. That was like a 10 degree cold start lol Midwest has been cold the last few days.

They really don't add that much volume. So long as you have the res and a quiet muffler I think people wouldn't know you are off stock.

I had a guy come check out my setup a couple weeks ago and it was quieter than his 330i with just a Dinan muffler.

Yup.

Keep in mind that the Powerloop is TUV approved exhaust for street use. There are NVH restrictions that it has to adhere to to get that rating. Your tastes may differ, but for a DD that is exactly what I wanted.

Awesome. I've yet to install my PE. we'll see where that takes me. I personally don't like loud. I like tone.

It's tame until you get over about 3,500 RPM. Then it opens up, very similar to just having the performance exhaust. After 3500 you start to get the straight 6 howl. It is not obnoxious though in my opinion.

Any Decibel ratings? Under 90 or 80?

It seems like these headers don't have cats on them like the stock headers. Does the stock system have another set of cats in the mid pipes?

Also, does anyone know if Evolve can remove the CEL on a N51 engine? It seems to me it's worth waiting to see the results of their experiments with tuning the N51 (mentioned in another thread) before attempting to do this mod, am I right? Especially if I need to get a tune to remove the CEL.
