I was assured by Salman and by others in this thread if the 02 issue wasn't fixed I would receive a full refund. With the last few tunes the car hasn't even started so I can't even tell if the 02 codes are fixed. Salman has offered to pay for my software update if this doesn't work. Since he has offered that I do feel the need to give him a chance to fix this issue. I feel like 2 weeks is more than sufficient, if it's not possible in this time I will probably go with Active. It sounds like Evolve is trying to do right and take care of you and what sounds like a unique situation. It sucks you're having to deal with all these issues.
Seeing all this just reassures my plans to wait until I have a second vehicle until I mess with the DISA/headers/tune mods. I'll stick with cosmetic and suspension stuff until then. |

You mean besides someone who mixed up the O2 sensors on a header install?
Active has how many tunes on the N52 with dynos in comparison to the (max) of 4 I've seen from Evolve? Even you can't argue with AA's larger sample size, proven power, and price. |

Tune quality aside, the way 631 was treated initially was totally unacceptable. And yet you don't running about slamming other tuners with such reckless abandon. The only thing I do clarify is who is capable of passing OBDII emissions and who is not.

For what it's worth, when i installed my headers myself everything started and ran perfectly with the AA offroad tune. I had the O2 sensors installed correctly and i only had an exhaust leak on cylinder 1 from a faulty crush gasket. I installed the headers, than flashed the tune before ever starting the car.
When i brought the headers to a shop to get the gasket leak fixed, they then accidentally mixed up my secondary o2 sensors which than lead me on a hunt to figure out what was wrong with my car. I assumed the shop reinstalled them correctly and prematurely blamed AA for a tune issue when it was really a hardware issue- my bad and i've given AA my apologies for that. After fixing the secondary o2 issue i received another o2 related CEL. This came from my secondary's being mixed up, causing bank 1 to run rich and bank 2 to run lean, thus burning up my bank 2 primary o2 sensor. I replaced this sensor with my mechanic and everything has been perfect since then. My issue was hardware related and not software related. AA was very helpful at first but they remained adamant that i had a hardware issue the entire time and because i trusted a shop and my judgement over them we bashed heads. They clearly got a bit frustrated with my stubbornness yet in the end they helped me the entire time. I have nothing bad to say about AA and i again apologize for my mistakes. That being said, I REALLY wish AA had the ability to turn down the o2 sensors so they pass obd2 testing instead of just turning the emissions system off.

Well in that case I retract my statement about your particular situation.

Why is Evolve able to do this and AA isn't? The N52 platform is pretty mature at this point, so what's the deal?

That isn't a thing isolated to the N52. Evolve does it on every platform. The others don't seem to have put the time into figuring it out. Odd, when for most of us it is a pretty big deal.

I'm honestly starting to think there is more to this and a particular reason why lots of tuners are turning the widebands off on this particular motor..
If my car ever does magically get finished by Evolve, I am going to probably hook it back up to the Snap On tool and see how the 02's are performing. What the AFR's are running at and what the pre cat 02 values are holding steady at. |

I'm pretty sure I read from the OpenFlash tablet thread in e90post that the reason why they don't trick the O2 sensors is because of potential liability issues. Whether that's the same reason as AA, I'm not sure but suspect it is.

The only "tune" I recommend against is the BMS Powerbox.

How do you know it functions flawlessly?
What is your peak AFR? Are you running rich or lean? Are you a 0.5 AFR? What are your post 02 values? Flawlessly is a very strong word.. |

Hi Guys,
As you can all see still working on this. Any company that turns off pre CAT 02 sensors is completely idiotic. The problem we are having is turning off the 'CODES' for the CAT efficiency only on this particular car ONLY. We are tuning 128i's and 125i's at a healthy rate without issue. We do not leave our customers hanging and if a solution needs to be created then that's what we do like in the case of hundreds of N54 customers (especially 1M). While Mark's car is a special case he himself a special case too with respect to his patience. With the new software update from BMW we tried a tuned file but the car would not start. Today a file has been sent with a single byte change to a fuel map to see if the checksum calculation is not causing the problem. As for our refund policy - yes that changed because of so many people abusing the system. Tuning their cars, falsely claiming the tuning is bad and then sending the cable back without flashing their cars back to stock. In the case of Mark or anyone who has a genuine problem, it's 2 options: 1) Allow us to work through the problem 2) Refund We do not take people's money and run away or make poor excuses if there is a problem. |

Been in the tuning game for a while and it's really not that big of deal turning them off just run a wide band, wow lol better anyways. And you haven't even posted a dyno so we can't count on that or any proof of all the values or how your car is running, we haven't even seen any track videos from you or photos STIG, just cool awesome parts that you installed to your car so you can say you have the best.

Remind me of the threads I have for my 1er where I'm showing off parts/my car? As far as I can remember, I only make threads about parts when they actually contribute something useful to the forum, like a DIY.
