If you can afford it, go for the BMW Performance Suspension (which is different from the Sport package). Reviews indicate it tightens the car up considerably. By itself a front sway will help a little, but better front tires are a more comprehensive solution than just a sway bar.

I have to mount two tyres 225/40/18 to front and other two 255/35/18 to rear but i think to put the sway bar for more suport in the car.
The perfomance suspension is very expensive and is not legal in spain, for it i will put kw or bilstein coilovers if the car need it .But before it,i like to mount the sway bar that is less showy for the oficial service if is neccesary use the waranty. |

I don't think many people have added a rear sway bar due to the difficulty. The front is very easy to do, but not the back.

Try the front frist before you decided on the rear. It is cheap and easy to do.

I'm still in doubt. I already have without rft tires and is more evident now rolling.
I wanted to hear from someone who has had the same problem which was his choice and that result has had. I get the impression that the cushions are hard enough, maybe the solution would be the front bar and springs. I hope your experience can help me

Why not buy the front and rear OEM M3 sway bars from the dealer. What you save on shipping, pays for the install. Front is easily installed with a minimum of tools. My rear bar was installed on a lift, in under an hour.

Do both bars to retain a "closer" to neutral balance. Had my front bar on a few days prior to having the rear one installed. While I did not have an opportunity to really test the car (track), it felt odd. Could feel the rear rolling thru even slow corners. After both installed, car feels really planted with less roll and far more secure.

Unfortunately I am on the road. When I get back Sunday I can post the part #'s or you can search to find them. The hardest bar to change, the rear is the one that needs the most help. The 12mm rear bar the 135/128 comes with is safe from BMW's point of view but with the smaller front track and staggered tires makes the car push or understeer. The rear M3 bar,20mm hollow and stiffer bushings and mounts are a great choice. Another choice is the 15mm rear bar off the European 335 M Sport suspension. They use it with the factory front bar you already have. The easiest would be the 15 mm I just mentioned with your existing front bar. The upgrade from that would be the 26.5mm front and 20mm rear fron the E90 M3 coupe/sedan. The convertible m3 is heavier and uses even larger sway bars. I would not recommend them with the stock springs/struts though. I have not tried them but from my 30 years of doing suspension mods too large of sway bars with a softer suspension will not have enough control, damping, and the car kind of rocks off the too stiff bars.
Try the 15mm M Sport rear or the M3 bars. I have the stock springs and struts and I have the M3 coupe/sedan bars and really like them. I hope this helps. and use the M3 coupe/sedan bars. I hope this helps. |
