Just making a Statment for all sydney sider.
Why is everyone buying tires from the US? Just doing some search on what tyres I should put on my Enkei RS05RR (soon to come). Ive opted for some Michelin Pilot Super Sport
225/40/18 fronts. Tire Rack quoted me $424 X2 and shipping was $209.3 Total $633.03us That also excludes fitting.
Tempe Tyres have the same tyres @ $300 each and fitted, wouldnt we all think this is a no brainer. They also do interstate shipping.
I understand the manufacture may play a factor on price. but Tempe are pretty good

Anyone else on here use them too?

You're lucky then mate. Every tyre shop in Brisbane that I've enquired with wants over $700/corner for PSS.

THAT is why people buy from O/S...

Anyone shipped stuff through hopshopgo over 1k? I bought a new DME for ~1200 which came in over the Australian $1000 threshhold and I knew I would have had the possibility of paying GST, which I'm fine with.

But hopshopgo go ahead themselves and charge you for the customs tax and add $50 for their brokerage fee and say they will handle it with customs. My package came with no receipt from customs/DHL to say any of this has been paid.

I just sent a message to them asking for a scan of the receipt etc to make sure its actually paid, I would rather our country have the cash than them.

that is interesting because when I spoke with customs they basically indicated there is a 10% GST and 5% import tax in addition to a $50-90 admin fee.

I hope there are no other hidden costs of bringing in goods over $1000...

RE: Shipping to Australia: A Fact Sheet

If you are in the ecommerce business in Australia and you only shipping domestically, then BRI freight forwarders USA to Australia is your best option. Complementing this huge industry and assisting in its growth are the shipping companies of Australia. Without a reliable shipping partner any ecommerce business is guaranteed to fail. It is very much volume dependent. It is very far, far cheaper to ship a whole container load. Very easy for the shipping company; its just another container to ship, not lots of individual packages to sort. I pretty much filled a half-sized container.
