Thank you. Confirms pretty much everything my dealer told me this afternoon.
Doesn't seem to be a limited quantity production.

Thats what my dealer told me. They explained that most if not ALL cars will be on a order only basis. So if it's not ordered, it's not built. And ED is an option, just waiting for the $$ details.

Yup. Same situation. Only thing mine wouldn't comment further on is the December 20th situation. Is that the day I can actually place an order with BMW specifying the exact options I want? And the delivery options? (PCD for sure. I wish I could afford Europeand delivery, but I don't think I can justify the travel costs even with the discounted price)

ED is cheaper on all other BMWs. The savings usually pays for the trip and then some. Let's see what they do with the 1M ..

Stand alone was heated seats. They just don't know yet what comes in the pkgs and price. I would think it would be similar pkgs to the M3.

On Dec. 20th we should have the official option and package lists for US spec cars, but the dealers will not get their allocations until closer to March. That is when orders can be placed. And I don't believe you will see pricing until NAIAS in January.

What that letter doesn't outline is the extent to which this vehicle's limited production entails.
This vehicle could be limited production to x units.... / year. Will this vehicle have only a 1 year run, or not? With the introduction of the 1 series LCI, it would be foolish to run the 1M for one year when the 1 series has 1-2+ years of life left (I believe 1-2 more years). I would love to be told that 2012 is the end of the 1 series production and that the 1M will be a '12 model.

I wonder if the "limited" production will be that the entire car is treated like a Priority 1 option, so it simply can't be ordered unless it's a customer-ordered car. Is there any precedent for that?
I wish they weren't so coy about it. We've been following along like good boys, wondering what to do... dealers are largely clueless, ScottXX is vague, EVO and Jason here at 1addicts say not limited in number, just time... SPILL IT, BMW. |

Just a hunch...but i think that by limited production, they are referring to the length of time, not the number of units. They probably expect to sell 1000 units in the US during that time period, but my guess is they will build more if there is demand. Again, just my opinion.

Only 3 exterior colors and one interior available for order...
lol that pretty much sums up the 1 ///M...They did everything they could to keep costs low.

I believe they mean a limited amount of time as well. There is no way they're only going to produce this car for just a year. I say two years is the MAXIMUM. I mean a year goes by so fast. Let the hype and word of mouth catch up to the thing!

I recently sent an email to M-Power.com outlining my concerns about the supposed limited number of 1Ms being produced. There response to me verbatim:
"There is no limitation. BMW M will try to fulfill every order. But if you would like to drive one soon, perhaps you should not wait too long." To me this implies that BMW will build enough cars to satisfy demand, but only for a limited period of time. Hopefully this assuages everyones fears. I tried to attach a copy of the email I sent and its response, but it would not allow me to do so. So just take my word for it. |
